how big of effect can o2 sensors have on mpg?

I was getting similar mileage on my v6 before I traded it in. 4 months later, I'm getting much better gas mileage on my GT. I've thought about it now and then and believe it must have been:

1) my foot

Massive. They tell your comp how much gas is being burned and therefor how much extra to put in or take away.

yeah but whats an example, so say you could get 18 mpg, what would it typically drop it to? 16? 14?

I'd venture to say I'm a fairly light footed driver so I don't really think thats the case. Maybe back when I first got the car I was a bit stupid driving it but even then I didn't get this bad of mileage.

That depends on too many variables, driving style being #1. IIRC, the stock "tune" on the EEC will allow up to 25% more fuel to be added/subtracted (fuel trims) based on what it sees from the O2 sensors. I'd have to take a look at the file to confirm that.

Well, half a tank down and have only gotten 100 miles sooo doesn't look like its changed much. Guess I'll give the fuel filter a shot now...
