Intro and ?? for first mod/upgrade

Hi, my first time here. Gonna be around awhile if you’ll have me.

Ok, so I came back from overseas (USMC) and bought a 3.8 96 Convertible, now its time to make it better!!

So, here is where the nightmare starts it’s got.....Glass packs

True duals with no cross or cats. Sounds decent at idle but too dang loud and anoying any other time, not to menion the gas mileage..

If you guessed I’m replacing them first your right. I want duals and I want it to sound half way decent. Not going to use cats since its registered in Bama and we don't have inspections.

So..

1. X pipe or H pipe?
2. Flowmaster 40s or ????

h-pipes sound better IMO deeper and more aggressive, and I hate the sound of a catless six, highflow cats will make it sound better IMO, and flows super 40's are my fav.

Sorry forgot to add, Puting cats back on will add or subtract power / mpg?

This is gonna be a ongoing weekend project for me and my 13 y/o. She wants it when she's old enogh. So I figured we would start small and work our way up to bigger and faster.

you could get some hi-flow cats that would smooth out the tone a bit and cause a tiny bit of back pressure also umm if you want better gas milage you could get a tuner and u.d pullies ... but you are giving the car to your baby girl so we don't wanna put to much power into it ... ... just playin

uhh is your car black? cuz it would be awesome if you threw some pink on it as a visual mod ha

Im in the same boat. My 13 year old is waiting for mine.
I went with the Flowmaster and it sounds good with the K&N FIPK. The price wasnt too bad. It was like 300 for true duels no h or x.

Glad to hear another Marine is back safely with their family.

She can if she wants when she gets it...lol. Its red with a white rag top, white interior. I'll post some pics later.

Ok, gonna go with the super 40's, no cats .

Still not sure about which is better the H or X pipe. Not sure which gives the beter gain?
