Timing

Is the timing the same as the spark advance? Because i was told that my timing was off and thats why i have such little power. And i have been planing on getting a sniper tuner and was wondering if that could fix my problem as well.

There are three types of timing:

1. Ignition timing is the same as spark advance.

2. valve timing is controlled by the timing chain and gears.

3. The fuel injection timing is controlled by a cam position sensor.

I presume they were talking about ignition timing. That is controlled by the computer and a TDC sensor near the front crank pulley.
I don't know about the tuner device, which I presume changes parameters in the computer.
