New Rotors. RED HOT!!

I put new rotors/brakes on this past weekend. I broke a bolt on the passenger side rear caliper. After taking apart everything from the back side ( rotor bolts and e brake spring) i was able to get the rotors changed. After changing rotors and trying to put the calipers back on i noticed they would just pull the rotor inwards. This happened on both sides. I reassembled them both twice and every time i put the calipers on it would just cause it to happen.

I thought i could just put the wheels on and bolt them on and it would just push the rotor back straight. But After a quick test run the rotors were red hot and smelt horrible.

Any ideas what i could be doing wrong?

The front pad(outboard) is tight against the rotor, the rear side pad (inboard)is really loose i can get my finger in there and move it around..

Are you certain you have the correct rotors? Did you compare the dimensions of the new rotors to the old ones?

Sorry by front pad i mean the outer pad. I am only referring to the rear rotors/brakes.

The outer pad on the driver side rear is really tight against the rotor and the opposite side very loose

I will check the rotor dimensions. I hope this is not the case because i doubt Advance auto will return the part. even though they were the ones who pulled the rotors from the back.

yeah i greased them. Do you think they could have sold me the wrong guide pins. Because that's where i am having trouble fitting the caliper back onto.. its very tight and i have to pull the pins all the way in.

I am just trying to get an idea of what it could be, since i wont be able to work on my car until next weekend.

It's possible. Do you have the old ones to compare to?

When I put new rotors on my car i found that it helps alot to once you put the new rotor over the wheel studs, spin on a lugnut or two to hold it where it is supposed to be while you put the caliper back on. Sounds like you have bigger issues but idk it helped me.
