Hey, I just got a 95 mustang and i am itching to mod it. I wanna do an inexpensive performance mod that gives hp but doesnt screw too much with my fuel economy. Anybody got suggestions?

hey welcome to moddedmustangs.... what is your price range? maybe take a look at roadhawg's setup (click here), in which he installed an eaton m90 from a thunderbird supercoupe?

If you dont go the affordable supercharger route and you want horsepower and speed, check into a trac lok differential and 4.10:1 rear end gears. Expect to pay $700 for parts and labor and tune for a rebuilt locking rear end. A full exhaust with the right deals can be achieved for about $700 too (i.e. long tube headers, off road mid pipe, and muffler of choice.)

Hell, MAC long tube headers are $318 shipped, and for $120, you can get some flowmaster knock offs, for $80 you can get the electrical to make it work, so at $518 plus time, you can build a dumped off road exhaust out of your stock midpipe flanges and the parts you bought.

Bottom line, if you want increased power, full exhaust, cam, and supercharger... If you want speed, gears.

I believe alot pf people go with a torsen and a girdle for the 7.5 rearend.
I got a good deal on a 8.8 with 3.73 gears and a factory Tloc . So I opted to do a rearend swap on my 6.

I took my FRPP Trac Lok and FRPP 4.10:1 gears to a rear end specialties shop by me and he charged $200 for the install. It took him about 6 hours because he had to reshim it twice to get no whine from the rear end. An 8.8" rear from a same model year Mustang can be gotten cheap at a junkyard (about the same price as buying the trac lok and gears for the 7.5" stocker) and they come with lsd. The 8.8" rear will need steeper gears since stock is usually 3.27:1.

I opted for the 7.5" rebuild because I got the rear put in 2 days before a race down at SGMP and needed to run a 14.xx pass in my 6 banger to make it worth my time.

You can just throw in an 8.8 and it bolts right up to your rear shocks/springs/driveshaft/etc., and hope you have a good unit, or you can rebuild a 7.5 and not run slicks on a stick with over 300 rwhp or you may break the rear
