I still dont get it

I know this has been beat up before but I need to be convinced. Why would an electric blower not be a good idea? If you could create even 1 psi wouldnt it help? I mean, like on a short ram intake. That thing gulps up alot of air. Why not put some force behind it?

I used to build RC planes quite a bit. I always think back to the quality and power of a ducted fan engine. They get better and more efficient all the time. They are small and move a shit load of air at high velocity. Im so temped to attempt making my own just to see. If it fails , big deal. It might be fun trying.

It would be relativly easy to mount it in a place before the MAF sensor and maybe run it to a switch that turns it on and off when I need it. You could put it like on a "Y" with a flap that opens when the fan turns on but stays shut when your running through the normal filter.

Ya, I know this is probably stupid but there's smart people in here and I'd like to hear the comments.. rip it up.

the electric fan can't produce enough cfm to build boost man.

it just doesn't have enough power to make any power on a car.

It wouldnt be worth it. whatever little hp increase you might see from an electric fan is negated because it takes significant amperage to power the damn thing in the first place. so you lose what little power you gained because of the parasitic loss

ok. this fan produces 55oz of thrust with the motor. It runs off of a 7.2 V rechargable battery. Thats like 3.5 pounds of thrust. The blade diameter is 88mm which is like 3.5 inches so it would fit well. I cant do the math to know what the CFM that would be.

its a cost thing. Super chargers are how many thousands? You'll never get the same kind of gain but the parts would be well under 100 bucks.

thats the exact problem man.

your not going to get a good gain for under 100 bucks.

sure you could make that thing spin fast as hell and make good boost but it would cost a lot to make it do that.

plastic fans aren't supposed to spin that fast.

that's why s/c and turbos are metal and have bearings inside.

it's also a weight issue.

the more mass you have turning the more cfm your going to produce.

thats pretty much the issue in a nutshell.

Oh well in that case save your 100 dollars for a mod that adds some power...cause those don't work
