New exhaust ?'s
so i have a 96 stang 3.8 getting a custom built true dual exhaust system made i plan on putting on flowmaster 40's also my problem now is the rattling underneath my car i think is coming from the cat? sometimes its there and sometimes its not ( it sounds like its right underneath the driver seat) can i totally delete the cat/back from the exhaust and be ok?
Also would a catless exhaust system i just mentioned sound better then one with? |

Catless would be louder, But if you have to worry about Emissions Testing, You want to be sure to weld the plates up to look like you still have them, And Get MIL eliminators, You can get them from Americanmuscle.com
They keep your Check engine light from coming on because of the Deleted Cat's. Also, It will be much Throatier without Them, Just have to worry about Johnny Law and his Inspections, If your state has them. ![]() If you dont care that your Check engine light comes on without them, Go ahead and get rid of them and dont worry about the MIL eliminators, I would prefer to know if something ELSE is wrong with the car though, So I would Opt for them. Try reaching under the car, And Rattling the Cat's and see if a heat shield is Loose on one of them.

hmm I figured it would obviously change the rear O2 sensor readings and probably throw a rich/lean code.

Spintech mufflers
If you are looking for an opinion, check out Spintech mufflers out of California. I have them on my V6 2003 and they sound better than any Flowmaster out there. The site has an area where you can hear them. Mark my words you won't regret it. Good luck.

honestly what i would do is check your local CL or salvage yards for a stock GT catback and take that to them...it'll be so much cheaper then paying them to bend tubing for the over axle part, and for the mufflers they can cut the stock GT ones off and swap in whatever brand you're buying from them |
