Help a question on rust and floorboards

Well my nephew and I looked at an older 94 mustang , it's in decent shape, surface rust...the usual. Car works pretty good but the drivers side seat is making the infamous creaking snap sound common on mustangs. Apparantly after lifting it, we took note that the floor board has a small crack or rust patch if you will directly under it and this is causing the snap noise when moving around in the seat. Whats the best possible solution if he was to buy this car? Weld in a cheap piece of sheet metal? The car is real cheap btw.

if there is rust in any other place besides that, i would grab it. it is easy to cut out a small sheet of metal and weld it in.

my grandpa used some sheet metal from a microwave or something when my brother's 64 1/2 was rusting out at the floor boards...

atleast i think that's what he used... i wish he was still around to ask

LOL sure. OK im sure there is a few garage kept ones, but every single 90's stang I've seen has had at bare minimum surface rust. Even newer ones.
