Exhaust setup opinions

So I'm taking my car in to get the exhaust all welded up along with lowering the rear hangers (inside of my bumper is starting to melt) I was looking at the Saleen rear exhaust and it gave me an idea for a pretty sweet setup.

Forgive my horrible mspaint skills... What do y'all think?

I just realized how hard that is to see, it involves cutting out the rear valance and having the exhaust routed through there with dual exhaust tips. I know its a little corvette-ish but I think it looks nice and muscley

90 degree bends around it. I've done the measurements and it'll work. I'm not one to not do some planning first.

I'm just getting tired of the norm. I mean seriously.
Dual exhaust=gt rear bumper
Wheels=fr500, bullitts, cobra rs, cobras, or saleens
Front Bumper = cobra or mach lip
In all honesty everything us just starting to look the same

extra bends in exhaust creates extra backpessure. side exhaust loses 3ish hp due to the S bends. but its ur car. dare to be different.

not backpressure lol...exhaust velocity will be decreased though due to the extra bends...he'll notice that on his top end

I'm still slightly uneducated on back pressure and velocity theory here. I know having as little back pressure as possible with as much velocity as possible without adding more pressure is what you want, presuming I understand correctly. Would it really make a huge difference running 2.5"exhaust with no cats and having a decrease of velocity from a few bends?

Btw: Thanks for adding a little tech to this, both you and mycurse

drop the term back pressure...it's basically a myth...what really counts in an exhaust is the velocity...it basically will decide where in your power band your getting your power...you have to think it's not just a few bends...it's the bend over the axle to a straight piece to a 90 to a straight to a 90 then into the tip...that's alot of turns that the exhaust flow is going to get caught up in slowing down velocity (if i understand what i've read on other sites)...

every time i change my exhaust i can tell my power band has changed...it may sound stupid to some, but changing from dumps to side exhaust to tubing out the rear...you can feel with some setups that your bottom end has gotten more peppy...whereas my current setup i can feel my bottom end has gotten sluggish but my top end on the interstate has picked up more..

i mean if you want to do it then by all means do it....but imo it just doesn't flow right with me in various ways

now all that being said....Saleen had an exhaust kit kind of like what you're wanting with a rear bumper made for it...the big difference why it doesn't hurt them on the road is the power difference...

That's the system that got me thinking about the proposed idea. My problem was not wanting to buy a different bumper and have it painted. I'm sure finding an electric green parts are about as fun as finding zinc yellow parts. Anyways back to the velocity, basically what you're saying is that having those bends will take away top end power, will it move that lost power to low end? Or will it just lose it asl together?

You never loose the power...it just shifts...it may loose top end or it may loose bottom end...although from personal experience the less bends the better my top end was. Basically everything right now is just speculation since this is the one type of exhaust I have never or will ever put on my car. If only for looks alone. Centering the tips make the car look less wide and I dislike that. Maybe why i like cobra reads so much...how the tips sit really far apart just appeals to me.

its like when i put on longtubes. one of my friends had a v6 mustang with stock manifold true duals and flows. at highway speeds at 70 engine was at 2k rpms and there was alot of drone. when i did my setup lt's o/r h-pipe and flows. 70mph at 2k rpms i have very little drone. although if i bump the rpms to 2.5-3k there comes the drone. shortest distance from 2 points is a straight line when u add curves to that line the line in fact gets longer due to more distance traveled. the curves in the exhaust will be restricted by the curves rather than being able to flow in a straight line. like 6er said it changes the power band.
