Where is it best to pull the 3.8 out from?

Im pulling a 3.8 out and was wondering where would be the best place to do so. i have the lift and chain and was about to go get some Grade 8 Bolts from where the exhaust manifolds bolt to the heads and pull it from there but im unsure if that is the best way.

The shop manual shows a pair of brackets that attach to the studs for the exhaust manifolds. There are two longer studs on each side and that is where they go. In any case one side should be at the front and the other side at the back.

I believe replacing a stud on each side with a hardened bolt would be OK, though the bracket is designed to distribute the weight over two studs on each side.

I'm doing this right now and I've found it best to take a flat tow strap and run it around the back of each header and through the mid hole...

Then bring the strap forward and go over one of the water pump studs

Bring the strap straight up and tie the tow strap in a knot and attach to lift hook.

It seems to be a good "forward and up" position.

My problem is that I apparently don't have all of the bolts out yet.

you could take off your intake manifolds and take 2 bolts and put them though one of the links on each side of the chain and then screw them in where you took the manifolds off at

i wouldn't lift from here lift fro the manifold holes in the block. its sturdier, and u can have better weight distribution that way.
