Easier to get ahold of a v8 and mod it.

By road racing do you mean on the highway racing someone in public?
no, autocross or curving track. no public races except for track displays.

I'm pretty sure that everyone here would choose to have a V8 than a V6 of the same year if they were the same price, but they are not. Not everyone can afford a V8, that's one reason people get V6

My 2001 V6 is my first car, and I spend all of my money on it, couldn't afford a V8. (I'd rather have a 01 V6 than a 92 V8, like the look much better, imo).

Also consider the fact that as the years go on, the V6 gains some power, and catches up or surpasses the older V8. The 2012 V6 has 305hp, the 2001 GT has 260hp, the 2001 Cobra has 320hp. If you think about it that way, the newer models have more power in the V6 than the older ones do in the V8, and get much better gas mileage. (and look nicer imo)
I'd rather have the 2012 V6 than a 2001 V8 for sure, and I think I'd rather have it than the 2001 Cobra too.

In other words, it depends on what you want. If you like the body style of the older mustangs, then get a V8 so you have some power. If you like the newer Mustangs, you can get a V6 and still have as much power, if not more, than the older V8s, but a 2012 V6 or a 2012 V8, the V8 wins hands down.

ah good I was concerned there for a moment. some people think the road(highway) is a racetrack.

and they get people killed.

Exactly. And given a few more years hopefully Ford will produce a v6 that tops 305.

A lot of kids say how slow the 99-04 mustangs are but then they're comparing it to newer model cars. I get annoyed when they think they're so much better in their new 2010-2011-2012 car whether it is a mustang or something else just because their ride is newer. Yeah it's faster but it should be because the technology is new.

How sad would it be if a stock 03 v6 mustang could be a stock 2012 v6 mustang? people would be pissed with ford. just a rant I had to get out...

A 2012 V6 had better be faster and more efficient than a 2001 V6, especially with all the new technology and advancements that have been made recently. I wonder if Ford will decide to make an EcoBoost V6 Mustang (turbocharged, direct injected V6 engine), that V6 would likely be at around 365hp, (based on the F150 V6 having 302, and the V6 EcoBoost having 365) not too shabby...

The 2001 V6 has similar hp to the 1992 V8, and it looks much nicer imo, and the 2012 V6 is faster and nicer than the 2001 V8. Much in the same way that in a few years the V6 will be faster than the current V8, that's how it should be. That's the end of my rant, for now...

I don't see a V6 from ford being faster than the coyote. Not until the 5.8L becomes standard in the GT models...
