Cool

New...To The Idea Of A V6 (tell me more)

I am a big believer that a sports car...should be a v8 manual...but now Im having second thoughts and wondering if Im RIGHT.I have questions about the v6...does it sound the same? Drive the same? I heard its better on gas, but is that the only perk?? WHY DID YOU choose a v6 over a v8?
would I be settling if I chose a v6 over a v8?

unless you want to drop some major coin into a v6 to make it a "sports car"...go ahead and find a nice v8...after having both i've got to say the GT was the better over the two...why am i in a v6 right now...my GT had too many issues from the previous owner so i sold it and bought a low mileage DD until i can finance a 3v after my wedding in May....

as for sound....big difference....the GTs are odd firing and the sixxers are even firing....

as for driving...yep pretty much drive the same...of the bat the GTs handle a bit better thanks to coming stock with a rear sway and wider tires but you can fix that in a sixxer....

as for gas...my 2v GT got maybe 3-4 less mpg then my v6 of the same year

at the time my GT had it's cats still on it so it's a great comparison...both had flow 40's btw and a midpipe

no problem...also adding to my reasoning on why i bought this v6...when i get back in a GT (3v of course) i will be giving this car to my lady friend...which is why it's only getting the mods that make it safer to drive and handle better and not engine work

Sports cars don't have to have V8s, and usually they don't. Sports cars are small light things that emphasize handling, like a Elise, Miata, RX-7, or Corvette.

Now if you want to talk muscle cars, a V8 is a requirement.

If you get a v6 you're going to HAVE to go forced induction to make it fast. But if you do, it will be faster then stockish 99-04 GTs. About the same as 05+ GTs depending on what route you take on FI. Totally fucking worth it though.

And then if you build/forge the motor you will blow the fucking doors off any V8 thats not forced induced.

To be technical, Mustangs aren't muscle cars. Never have been, never will be. Muscle cars are the heavy monsters of history that needed 400 hp to get out of their own way. Stangs are pony cars.... and the only one from the "Big 3" that didn't take a break from production for awhile.

Get the GT .. There's no way you'll ever be happy with a v6's performance when you compare it to a v8's performance WITH EQUAL MODS .. The v8 will win out every time. Honestly, it's cheaper to mod a v8, too ..

Also, I don't like anything this guy above me has had to say in any of his posts I've read =/ Just sayin ..

Why are the members of this forum (at least the V6 section) so scared of facts? Am I really shaking things up that much for you???

^ I'm not "scared" of anything. I just said I don't like your posts.

Anyway, I agree with this thread being funny. Lol, but I'm pretty sure we all agree that if you're looking for performance, choose the v8. There's no question about it being superior.

What about my posts don't you like?

Actually, if you have a V6 and mod it correctly you can mop the floor with the V8. When you factor in over all cost, the V6 holds it's own.
