Water under carpet in rear drivers side

Hey people.. Long time to see.. Okay here is my problem...
Under my carpet (on the floor) in rear drivers side I am noticing water.. Every time I put my finger on it it is wet.. Not to mention the nasty small of mildew.. Now i looked everyware to see if water is trailing down from somewhere but nothing... Could that be the point of entry or am i overlooking something?
Thank you so very much...

any big rains recently? jack it up and actually get under your car as well...also check under the rear seats...there is a water channel around the trunk lid..it could be leaking down the underside of the seats or paneling and causing your problem...hope you find it

Yes sir... It all started a few days after we had that huge tropical storm.. That rain destroyed everything.. Do you think thaat could be the problem?

yeah...im wondering if the trunk lids water channels just got so flooded that they leaked over the edges and ran down between the paneling to your carpet...i'd go ahead and dry them out with a hair dryer and then to remove the mildew smell get a can of carpet cleaner and go at it with a brush and rag...see how that does

Like 6er said... clean it real good and get it dry. If i happens again, then worry about finding the problem.

Hey everyone... Ok here's where I stand.. I removed the back seat and it was bone dry under there, Also the edge of the carpet is completely dry.. So I guess it's back to the drawing board.. I ran my hand all over the carpet and it is dry.. But I notice when I press my thumb down of the carpet in the back there is a very light wet spot, I'm wondering if thats when I attempted to wash my carpets sunday or from the rain...Mind you i'm in Staten Island NY and it rained for about 13hrs straight...

My heater works perfect so I know it's not the heating coil and I plan on buying a cabin air filter just for the heck of it.... I'm Completely Stumped and getting really mad... The smell is so strong that anything left in my car for about an hour smells like sh#@

*I cleaned the two drain spouts under the hood along the fire wall that allows the water from the windshield to drain.. they had wet leaves and soot in them but nothing major...

Ok - I found where the water in my car is...I was right it's behind the drivers seat on the floor... After 13 hours of rain The water mark is quite big... So now begs the question is "where is it coming in from" I can tell you where it is NOT coming from.. It doesn't seem to be trailing down the carpet from under the seat or anywhere else... So What do you guys think?...

I had it happen on another car I had, and it turned out that the front windshield wasn't glued/sealed completely. Water ran down the inner firewall and down the floor channel until it ended up with a big wet spot in the rear floorpan area. The channel kept the water from getting the front carpet wet. I finally found it by removing the carpet and having my wife spray the windshield (all around the edge) until I saw water trickling down the toepan area of the firewall. I took it and had the windshield removed and resealed. End of problem.

Ok - Here is where I am... A few days ago I removed the back seat, front seat, panals all around & lifted up the carpet.... I couldn't believe the huge amount of water under the carpet/padding... I swear you could of put a gold fish in there and he would of lived for about a week.... So after about 4 hours of vaccuming and blo drying all is dry again... Now the only think I noticed was a little black rubber seal under everything.. So I removed the seal, cleaned it and put in back with silicone and I praying the water was a result of me driving over puddles and so forth though I highly doubt it.. I mean the amount of water down there looks to me as a direct result of water coming in from somewhere.. But where is the question:: The edge of the carpet is completely dry.. no trail of water.. soooooooo yet again im stumped...

Sit in the car and have a buddy hold a garden hose over various points on the car and try to pin point the leak. U can eliminate a few areas where the leak may be coming in. I had to do this with my t-top camaro, it leaked like a son of a bitch.

Ok I found the problem... I took off the panaling where the rear window is and had my wife hose down the car and I noticed the water was coming in NOT from the window but from that black plactic molding that sits above the drivers side window... It was pouring all the way down right under my carpet... It seams that plastic piece that sits above the drivers side window no longer holds water back

Hey everybody. New guy to these boards, veteran Mustang owner - on Mustang #6..

Anyhow I found this thread by doing a search. I have the EXACT same issue with water behind driver’s seat in my 09. now, I only started noticing this about two weeks back. The mildew smell is unbearable. Coincidence, I started washing my car myself as I had been using a mobile detailer for past while because I've been so busy at work. Now the only thing I can think of is I'm using a very steep driveway - nose up. Somehow water is getting in and pooling up behind my seat. I'm going to remove the panels and see if I can figure it out.

Other guys - you don’t happen to wash car on a steep driveway do ya?
