I hear ya, guess i'll just have to see what comes around
maybe i'll find a cheap GT, maybe i'll find a better engine, maybe i'll eventually put the engine in the car. Guess time will tell.

I'd say your best bet would be finding a wrecked GT, and just take the whole engine/transmission/k-frame assembly. Easier, cheaper, better results.
The 5.0 in stock form is fairly weak. To get the big power you'll have to do the whole H/C/I swap, possibly a stroker kit, some spray... you can make power but it's not necessarily cheap or easy in comparison to other options, especially with a carb. In your defense I will say that MM&FF has shown the EFI 5.0 is probably the best hp/dollar out there, even better than the LS. If you're willing to plunk down the cash, a turbo 5.0 will get you to 550hp cheaper than none other. Of course you could instead put a turbo kit on you V6, which wouldn't get you to the same power level, but would cost much less versus the new engine and conversion.

"Plunk down the money" and "cheaper than none other" don't seem to follow the same train on thought. A 550 hp build on a 5.0L swap to a V6 is more expensive than a 550hp V6 to start with build. Just sayin'.

I'm playing fast and loose with the numbers, and doing some estimation. I figure it will take a turbo to get a V6 or 5.0 to 550hp, so I'd call that a wash. Also driveline upgrades would be the same. The V6 is going to need to be built pretty stout to handle that, and internals aren't cheap. However you can pull a 5.0 and the k-member pretty damn cheap from a junkyard. Hell, you can get a whole donor car for a few hundred. 550hp won't be cheap no matter what route you go, but I think a 5.0 would be the cheapest. If you're ambitious of course.

Yeah yeah yeah... that's what I was saying a couple years ago, that I'd be happy with 350-400hp. Now I'm several grand deep about to grab 550hp with eyes on 700+.

Motor will fit easily considering a carb 351w fits under stock hoods. Won't hit brake booster. I don't do my write up cause I got tired of it. Lol I went from throwing a boring stock Windsor in and ending up building it up.. Still running stock stroke though. But will post videos when the 351w is running and screaming. Eventually lol
