Alright guys, bear with me on this question.

I've been talking about the 302 (carb'd) swap that i'm wanting to do.. well.. going to do come spring. I'm saving up for that at the moment little by little, but i should have the money come spring time to have it financed.

Anyways, so, the big question is... if i wanted to swap a manual into it... how hard would it be? I know most people say it's a PITA and just sell your car and get a GT. But, the car does have sentimental value to it, and i got it at a steal of a price when i bought it. So with that being said, i'm 99.99% sure that i want to keep the car. If it's too much of a pain to get it swapped, i most likely do it.

Along with those two things, i have an 8.8 that i'm going to put in as well when i do the swap.

I have been told the hardest part of the A/T to M/T swap was fitting the pedals in... Providing you have the right tools and ample room to work under the car.

I guess it isn't too bad converting a car you're attached to that you got for a steal. Hell, my car started life as a bone stock auto GT, and is slowly becoming a 03/04 Cobra clone. Anything's possible with enough effort.

However I think the biggest pain for you is going to be swapping K-members and Hydroboost. Otherwise it's just like any other motor swap. Hell, if you could find a GT manual donor car, you could unbolt the K-frame and roll out the K-frame/engine/transmission as an assembly, and you'd be halfway there. Granted that would mean going with an EFI 4.6, or 5.0 if you go back to the SN-95.

Going carbureted would make it easier, but might create some issues as far as fuel system and emissions compliance.

It would definitely be something different, go for it, the old 302s don't make much more than your v6 though, sound will be better for sure

True, the 302 has a lot more potential. But you'll need to swap heads, cam, intake...and that isn't cheap. If you want more power you have to pay to play, V6 or 302.

Going carb'd from an older car won't be street legal at all... which he knows. He'll also have a hard time finding an insurance company that will cover it post swap because of that situation.

maybe this is a silly question but why not use a fuel injected 302, parts for those arent exactly rare. I guess i just dont see the benefit of not going fuel injected...

If you love the sixer so much and want to keep it, just use it as a daily...buying the motor and trans+labor will cost you more than buying a fox body or 94-95 GT with a 5 speed.

As soneone who owns both: Fuel injection > Carb.

Ever get to see the real footage of how they did that? A four foot long frame extended off the rear of the Chevelle with several hundred lbs of weight to get enough 'umph' to pull the front off.... even on slicks.

So, i have a cam for it already, that's been sitting in the garage for god knows how long.. the engine is 200 $ (it's my brothers at the moment.. bought it for his 64 1/2 and never used it, along with the cam) And, there are no emissions to pass here, so... and it'll still be insured under a V6 since it's a V6 vin, someone correct me if i'm wrong.... My buddy has his 95 Fobra and it's still insured under a regular GT.
