oil pan removal

i was trying to remove my oil pan and no matter what i did there wasnt enough clearance to get it out. i umbolted both motor mounts and exhaust. i lifted the motor untill it hit the firewall and i still didnt have enough room to pull it out. what else can i do to get a few more inches of clearance besides droping the k member?

i finally got the oil pan in. i had to drop the k member completely. its not hard to do, just a huge pain in the ass. espicall doing it all by yourself. dropping a k member and pulling the motor 3/4 out alone freaking blows. now today im going to tackle putting everything back together. plus i replaced the shocks and springs.

lol. i was jacking up the front end to change the shocks, and the driveway slopes pretty bad. i had everything lined up but my gf kept texting me i i had to get up and walk over the the bench and get my phone then come back. it happed at least 4 times. i guess from gettin up i must have moved the jack a bit b/c when the car was halfway up i heard a crack immediately followed by the sound of water pouring on the asphalt... i looked under and saw oil pouring out and flipped my fucking shit!! i was so pissed. i told my gf that never again will i answer her while im working on my car.

so i have the k member and the motor in, just trying to get the springs back in. i was digging around online and found that you can do it without a compressor. but i cant get them in for the life of me. i smashed the shit outta my fingers!

the k member wasnt too bad being as i had to put it back on by myself. oh and i had to use another jack to hold up the motor at the same time since my cherry picker got stolen. yea sucks doing it by yourself but its gotta be done. i hope i can get the springs on today and get it driveable. i need to save money and miles on the cobra. already spent over $90 on gas this week. that thing literally costs me $20 a day. i drive 2 hrs for work

i had a guy in his late 40's early 50's walk over and start talking to me about what i was doing. and after explaining everything he looked at me and said "it's amazing how mechanically inclined you are to be able to do something like this." I just laughed and said well i really dont wana do it but i have to being as it was from my mistake. we both just laughed then he shook my hand and went home.

i just thought it was humours and made my day b/c i took it as a compliment

My stock power steering pump was perfectly fine. I thought it was bad, because I could hear a low pitch hum inside the cabin. Replaced the power steering pump. Ended up being my alternator lol. So now im stuck with putting remans in all the time
