C&L Intake pipe

I tried installing one of the c&l intakes from a 96-2001 gt on my stock 96 3.8. The bends and shape and everything fit great, could probably use a bigger throttle body though. At first I had the 30lb sample tube and the engine would sputter then cut off. Eventually got the 19 lb tube and it runs but not smoothly at all. Do I need a tune? Or could there be a leak somewhere? Or could there be another problem? Anyone ever try these intakes on their sixer?

Do you have a mesh screen between the air filter and maf sensor?

The sensor is fine...as long as you didnt break the metal threads that are in the maf....but that mesh is there for a reason...it evens out the air flow....

BTW...no tune needed...just put the mesh in and reflash the car
