Putting aside the common used phrase (unless you need that get OE) has anyone had experience with this kind of coil pack? i know screamin demon is a nightmare for us.

im pretty sure that it is a stock replacement coil so it would not help at all.

Can't beat Motorcraft Coils, ask the Coil-On-Plug guys. I personally use a StreetFire (an MSD brand) coil. It does the job, the original was still good at 170K, I just wanted a new one.

I bought one of those a while ago and it was completly wrong for my car. They discontinued them for a reason, the ones for our cars do not fit at all. Don't waste the money, if you need a new one, order a motorcraft one from advance auto.com and pick it up from the store. They have a sale going on right now. I got mine for like $82 and got a $50 online gift card. If you really need a new one go that route.

The stock coil is better you know why?

- it cost you nothing!

If your coil pack goes out your best bet is...

A ford motorcraft OEM replacement

The rest of them have been proven to be a nightmare over time.

So if someone does wanna upgrade the ignition system they don't need the coil pack? What about the spark plugs or plug wires? Is the MSD 6al a waste of time too? I don't wanna jack the thread really, I hope this is relevant to the op

If you want to upgrade your ignition system, the only thing you can really do is replace parts, not necessarily upgrade them. Autolite copper spark plugs, MSD superconductor wires, and a new Motorcraft coil pack. The wires are really the only 'upgrade' and they really don't do anything but they do have a lot less resistance than factory wires.

I doubt you have a need for any, so if you want to waste money then go for it.

And tell me how you would make a 6al work on a v6 mustang, I'm curious to know.

I was curious too, hoping you would tell me. They say it's universal and will work on any 4, 6, or 8 cylinder engine. Anyone running a msd ignition control wanna chime in?

Ford coil packs are pretty hot; I've heard of them run with 15+ PSI of boost. A lot of newer OEM ignitions are hotter than the high performance ignitions intended for classic cars (which had pretty awful ignitions). Other than good spark plugs and wires, a stock Ford coil pack is a pretty hot setup and you're only going to need to upgrade if you need a really hot ignition.
