1998 v6 tach issue
Ok so i have a 1998 v6 coupe auto, and for the past week i have noticed a few issues with my car's tach. when i start the car the tach sits there for a split second and the goes to where the rpms are. once it idles down the tach jumps from 700 to 300 and resumes normal and then goes back to bouncing around. when im driving it does the same thing. the car has no idling issues at all. I have tried the cave man approach and smack the dash above the tach and the tach goes back to where it is suppose to be and then it bounces a few minutes later. it also does this when i am driving mildly. Idk if it is electrical, or the mechanical gear in the back of the instrument cluster, or some other issue.
any ideas?

Just by looking on google, it seems some people had luck with just swapping out their clusters. Not sure though
