New to the board....

Hey all, I am new to the board and just picked up a 2000 V6 Vert! I have only had it a couple of weeks but I have already started to play with it...lol What I have done so far is the following....

Tinted the windows
Mach 1 Grill Delete
B&M Short throw shifter
True dual exhaust installed (Flowmaster)

What I am wondering and hoping you can help with is what are some good mods to do to improve performance without going to a super charger...

Will be looking at doing the clutch, rear end gears, CAI but my question is can I go to high performance parts with out having to switch out tranny, rear end and such. This is going to be an ongoing project but as I add parts I want them to be parts that will handle the higher torques and HP when the time comes for major mods.

Many thanks for all your advice and help!!!

Great start, and welcome to MM.

I can tell you've done some research.

I defiantely say you need to invest in a handheld tuner for speedo adjustments, cause you should probably look into doing a new set of gears and tlok next 3.73s will make you love life.

But also would be good to check into the cars history, how well was it taken care of, get on oil changes, check spark plugs, all fluids for that matter, air filter, fuel filter, brake pads, ect ect. Buy a chiltons or haynes manual and read about the care for your care and make sure its being properly taken care of.

It was owned by a mechanic and he took good care of it. It is a 2000 but only had 100,000kms aka 60K miles, never seen winter. Brakes were just done and I am going to be changing the wires, plugs, full oil change, flush differential and tranny.

Hand held tuner....is that the SCT with the chip? Or would you recommend a different one

SCT SF3/X3 Power Flash Tuner w/ 3 Free Custom Tunes (99-04 V6) - SCT 3015||38018 this is probably the most popular one! AmericanMuscle.com will be one of the most useful sites you will find! it will have almost everything you need at good prices

Nice Ride and Nice build list so far. A tuner was one of the best investments i made not just for short term but looking ahead the tuner really pays for itself.

That tuner was an amazing addition to my vehicle. Made it feel completely different. Besides the performance mods, I would definitely lower your car a bit. Other than that, its all looking good!

If you lower it get H&Rs or eibach sportlines. Those look the best in my opinion!

yep agree with all these guys, light bar for sure, maybe different rims? Im just not a fan of S197 bullits on a new edge but thats me but if you looking at performance without spending a ton of cash i recomend the windstar intake instead of a CAI, these have gains of 15hp and 7 lb/ft, heres the link
http://vapauto.com/windstar.htm
none the less it looks great, love the tips on that exhaust as well

Thanks for all the input guys...big help!!!

As for the light bar....if I forgot to mention it, it is going on over the winter. The rims came with the car and are being changed for next summer and going with the FR500 Black chrome 17x9 & 17x10.5 staggered with 245/45/17 on the front and 275/40/17 on the back. Black bezel headlights are already on their way...should have been here last week

Yes it is a stick...nothing but for a Stang!!

Those are GREAT wheels, they should look really good on your car and along with the light bar! also avoid HALO headlights like the plague lol, it seems everyone on here dislikes them
