2001 Mustang V6 exhaust/catalytic converters
I have a couple questions, my first question is why does my 2001 v6 mustang have two catalytic converters? Second question is why are the catalytic converters lower than my exhaust system/piping? Sometimes when i drive my car with three or four people in the car and I go over a speed bump going as slow as possible it scraps the bottom of it. I'm just curious if that's all normal and or if there is a way to fix the problem. Another question is I replaced my stock exhaust with a single flowmaster 40, one output and one input, is there any way I could straight pipe my car and make it sound any louder? Thanks for any responses I may get.

technically you have 4 cats ..two pre cats just after the manifolds and two main cats....where they hang is normal ...you can fix that with a new mid pipe. this of course would mean a dual setup and that would take care of your quiet issue..also I don't recommend straight piping the exhaust without a good midpipe....I'm straight piped right now but I have a pro chamber.

how do you fit 4 people in your back seat? you must be some of those 100 lb. emo kids...
As said, there are lots of exhaust mods. Best thing to do is convert to dual exhaust with a good muffler set-up (brand will depend on your specific taste, everyone has a different opinion of what sounds good) and a Mid-Pipe. You can get an O/R H-Pipe for around $130 shipped through Jegs that I hear is good, or you can get a Catted H-Pipe or X-Pipe for around $350 I believe.
