Service Engine Soon Light Is On 2004 Mustang V6

my car has 85,500 miles and works great. just did my 85,000 miles oil/service maintance recently and the dealership says everything is running great. all was well until my "Service Engine Soon" light came on after about a week.

I recently added the SCT Bama tune 87 performance back in October.

Question:

1. Does the SCT tuner is able to read codes to see the reason why its lite up
2. If so, how. I rarely use it ever since i put my tune in which is great
3. My car feels normal and runs great, any idea what it could be, could it be a misread. check my fuel cap and its lock tight.

Please help!

Go back to your car and plug your tuner in, there should be a option that says read DTCs or something like that. But yes you can read the codes with the tuner..

check for vacuum lines. unpulg the batter for like 5 min then hook it back up and see if the light comes back

check the code before unplugging the battery, why get rid of a warning light when you have no idea what its on for?

if his autozone is anything like the one in my town, you definetly dont want to go there for any mechanical advice...But yes they will read it fo free!

if anything go for the code but your tuner should do it.

b/c if there is something wrong the code will come back in a few miles. sometimes the engine light wont go away even after the problem is fixed until you reset the battery

you dont have to ask for advice, but like they will read the code for you and look it up in their computer n tell u what it is

Plug the tuner in, go to Diagnostics, and Read Trouble Codes.

Tell us what it says.

Lots of things can happen while the car still feels great. Doesn't mean it's not an important thing to fix.

you sure? in TN there is a miscommunication where some people think a law was passed here that keeps you from reading codes...however i have to tell them they're wrong..it's a law keeping any autoparts from erasing the codes (no matter what they are)..

the only reason i think california is the same is because it's such a big emissions state...so lets say someone has a CEL come on. How will they know what to fix if a law is in place saying they can't have someone look and tell them. If someone how this law is real then that's the funniest thing i've ever heard and i hope TN stays smarter then that in the future

84k miles? It's probably something stupid like that DPFE sensor crap. My stock O2's lasted until the end of my cars life at 120k (almost exactly)
