a duo of questions

Question Uno: RAM AIR
so I've been looking at alot of ram air hoods and air boxes, and I'm not quite sure what they do. does the air taken in from the hood go straight to the throttle body, or does it go into the CAI or what? I'm stupid, I know.

Question Two: Off-road H Pipe or custom fabbed crossover?
I'm taking my car into my local midas, or some other exhaust shop, in about a month and installing MAC LT Headers, super 44's and I'm not sure whether or not to buy an H-PIPE, or have them fab up a crossover pipe. which one would be better in terms of sounds and performance?

Custom fabbed cross over because u most likely have emissions and will want the cats and it cheaper and as for the ram air its useless for 2 reasons. #1 the scoop would have to be at about the same body line as the hood to have any forced air effects. and #2 the location of the TB on our intake its impossible to rid a ram air hood to the TB Plenum.

I'll live buy the _no cross over_ with long tubes law .....
It sounds better than anything I've found so far (but I can't speak on the 44s since their new and unheard buy most everybody)

Most of the "ram air" hoods are pretty much for looks. You _MAY_ get some engine cooling

Ive seen alot of opinions on the ram air thing. Stay away from it unless your looking for a non functional one for looks. I have a raised fake scoop on mine and it looks great. Jug seems to be right about this stuff.

Spend your dough on a good tune. Im thinking more and more that the stock intake is just fine on a V-6 until you start getting into big mods.

I have a side question though that may have been answered before here... why is the stock intake not considered a CAI since it feeds from the fenderwell through the silencer?

well the stock Intake is a cai its just not as cool as the other ones and the flow is a little more turbulent then a After market CAI but your correct it does draw cooler air from the fender well provided you have not removed your silencer :wink

u dont think more air hitting the engine cooling it down doesnt work with a ram air hood? other then using a scoop into a ram air setup...anything that brings more air inside or hitting the outside would help....drive with no hood and I bet you run cooler

make sure that the pipes are mandrel bent and not crush bent... or what ever its called... wrinkly pipes = no good

uhh i say you get a custom fabbed one... that way you have the option of x or h... which is strictly opinion with no major benefits to either side

Ram air hood is a waste of money because most of the air is deflect before it can reach the inlets... unless you have a ws6 style ram air hood

make your own ram air in the front bumper that where youll get the best most cold air.

okay, thanks for the replies you guys. now I have some more questions.

I just bought two cans of seafoam and I plan on doing it today. I was thinking using both cans, puting 1/2 in the brake booster, 1/2 in the pcv line, or whatever it is, and then put 1/2 of the other can in the oil, and the rest in the fuel tank. would someone mind showing me where exactly the pcv and brake booster lines are under our hoods? i popped my hood yesterday and was confused as hell :S

second questions is how exactly do you close your hood so that it locks? i think the latch on my hood might be broken because when I push it down, the release hooks, but it doesn't lock down, and you can still pull it up a little. am I missing something here?

Only put it in the PCV tube the break booster is a mute point because the PCV line will cover the area the break booster line feeds... the booster line also dont distribute the seafoam correctly to all cyl. the pcv line is a tube that goes from the drivers side valve cover to the upper intake manifold u cant miss it.

how exactly do I take it off? If I've found the right hose, it has foam covers on either end.

grab the end on the intake and pull straight out its snug as hell and u will probably bleed when u rap ur knuckles when it finally gives. then grab a tubed funnel stick it in the hole that u have reviled in the upper intake and then poor then wait about 30 seconds then turn the engine over.
