More FI questions
Got my "MM misses you email,"
so I figured I've probably been neglecting the future work I want to do for my old sixer. I wanna chat it up again about forced induction. Forget twin turbo, don't have that money and don't need that much power. Looking either single turbo or centi. SC, maybe SC if I can't be convinced that an intercooler will eliminate the "constant south florida heat" issue.Either way, what forged internals (and maybe where to look for them) do I need for my high-mileage auto 6? Seen stuff from SSM but seems like it's for their custom 6s. I'm looking at like 8-9 psi ICed turbo or ProCharger's 9-11psi kit. I'm planning on an SSM powerpak anyways (Just a side question, can auto trannies handle Stage 3 powerpaks?). I'm looking for something I can run on stock (cept for gears/LSD) rear-end. Just curious, again. Oh, and this is prob a better question for SSM, but I figured I'm already typing... If I get the parts for a split port swap and get a powerpak made for the 99-04, would I still benefit from the swap like an unmodded single port would (on top of the powerpak)? Thanks for any help. Know I'm just rambling but never hurts to try to grab some know-how |

SSX (SSM) or morana for forged internals unless you have a local machine shop that can get the parts
your trans should be find with just the powerpack, and probably a power adder too, the auto guys can fill you in more on that, i have a 5 speed myself if your going split port and adding some boost i would look into swapping in a 8.8 from a GT before spending any money on the 7.5 and lastly yes you will benifit the most from doing a powerpack split port swap vs a single port powerpack or just a stock splitport swap and if your looking to keep stock tranny and rear end i doubt you will need a forged bottom end |

I'd keep it a single port if you are going to turbo it.n There are quit a few single ports making 500+ on a sinlge turbo with headwork, bigger cam, and forged rods and pistons.

auto tranny will hold up to power pretty well from what I understand.
Even better if you get a tranny cooler and a shift kit. thats the main reason I don't want to do a t5 swap...the t5s are pretty fragile |

The autos can hold up to around 375 lb-ft of torque. More depending on your driving style.

Thanks all for the info... southfour, way to pretty much knock it out in one shot haha, and thanks for the morana site... My future goal is high 200 - low/mid 300hp, so I don't need to look for huge power. I just thought that doing a split swap while I was installing a powerpak anyways would give a little more bang. I'm thinking that a tuned 6 with HCI and a low-mid psi T/SC would put the car around that HP range, correct me if I'm wrong.
Anyone run a turbo in a constant hot climate? I know they should be intercooled for desired performance but I'm just wondering how much an already-high intake temp would affect a turbo's powerband. I'm still on the fence btwn SC and turbo... Almost everyone says turbo for a 6 but the heat down here is mad, I wanna know if anyone else has been there before. |

I'm over in West Palm, feels like we never get a break, but I guess everything's relative. Still feels hot all the time bc I'm used to NY state weather, where winter means... real winter
