V6 Mustangs Lowered by Cut Springs

People keep asking about cutting springs all the time.
Lets please start this thread and do the following.

If you have cut springs, please:

-If possible, before and after photos (atleast have the after photo)

-Inform us of amount cut front and rear

-And wheel/tire size (tire size is important to compare with others)

-Also, if you carry anything in the trunk or stereo systems, try and estimate the weight (that does drop the rear slightly ...)

-If you measured how much it actually dropped the car, add that as well.

-And last, a couple of sentences of how you feel this effected your car. Ride quality, streetable, turning, to much, not enough, bad/good, would you do it again?. Dont make a life story on it though.

*Please do not add information that is not needed.*
*Please do not ask questions or make comments about others set ups.*
*Please leave that to private messages.*
*Any thing other then the info asked for here will be deleted by mods. *

Thank You.

FYI: spoke to a mod, this can be made a sticky for quick reference in the future if enough info is added.

i cut alot of mustang springs..everything from v6s, GTs, and i have cut even front cobra springs...

when done correctly it is safe and the ride quality will not be bad. great cheap mod for someone wanting their ride lowered....and not just for looks...we have many members that race using cut springs

both cars had 245/45/17s on the front and 275/40/17s on the back...just spare and safety stuff in the trunk....and we had a thread like this but it's a good idea to start a new one

my old v6...
1.25 coils off the front and 1 coil off the back (no iso's)

BEFORE...

AFTER...

old GT...
1.25 coils off the front and 1 coil off the back (no iso's)

BEFORE...

AFTER...

Front Mach 1 springs cut 1 coil with stock isos, stock un-cut rear springs with stock isos. 1-3/8" front drop, 245/50R17 tires on all four corners, and a small 40lb tool set in the trunk.

Stock V6 springs, i didnt finish my lowering job yet...i only got the front done...lmao

1 coil off front...no isos

255/35/19 tires....yes 19" rims!

I put in struts that only had 42k miles on them and i guess the newer struts along with the little bit of camber i now have greatly improved turn in response. My steering wheel also doesnt shake anymore when i turn it slightly

2 coils off front, H&R Springs on the back, ISOs in.

The look is great and I love that. However, driveability and handling goes out the window. Very bumpy and horrible pulling to the side. Going back to regular lowering springs.

1 coil no isos on the front gave me a 2 finger gap between the tire and fender.

1/2 coil in the rear gives like 3-3.5 finger gap

i probably wouldn't go any lower than 2 finger gap on a DD because youll get raped by potholes...and your struts wont like you much anymore

can I get any info for a sn95 body style v6? Mine is extremely 4x4... i've got 245/45/17's on the front and 315/35/17's on the rear. The rims are 10.5 on the back and 9 on the front.. I cant remember the offset but I do know they are deep dish cobra replica's. Thanks

you won't find a shop that will cut springs...unless it's ghetto as hell

if you want it done...man up and do it yourself so you have a feeling of happiness about the job being done
