Tranny acting up...what to do?

So lately I've been having this problem to where my tranny wont shift into 2nd gear... I did change the fluid using mercon V and it did not really fix anything. All other gears work great...

It isn't at the point of total grinding yet, but it requires much effort and sometimes the shifter kicks back at you as if the clutch werent engaged. The tranny is mostly problematic upon cold start ups.

Also whenever the clutch is depressed the tranny seems to be making some noise regardless of which gear, it does it even in neutral?

Does this tranny have a destined death? What kind of fixes would you recommend? I'm thinking if it's the syncros going bad ill probably just get rid of the car since that seems to be expensive.

Synchros really aren't that bad, but you do have to have some knowledge. If you are having this many problems I would consider getting another transmission and swapping it in. The swap can be done in a few hours, and there is nothing to do aside from unbolting it from the driveshaft and engine, dropping it out, and jacking the other up in there.

FIRST OF ALL, I AM PARTING OUT A TRANSMISSION< AND CAN PROVIDE YOU WIth SYNCHROS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION FOR A LOW PRICE>> I BOUGHT THE TRANNY FOR MY CAR< WAS A DIFFERENT SIZE< SO IM PARTING IT OUT

your car should have a t-5 in it, or maybe even a 356... doesnt matter, because to get to the synchros, you need to remove the fork assembly...
1. drop tranny, not hard, either dropp the bell housing too, or just the tranny, (tranny w/ o/ bell is only 4 bolts, with is like 12) - drain transfluid into a bucket, you can reuse later.
2. punch out the pin on the inside of the shifter assembly itself (where your shifter goes)
3. unbolt the top screws in the top end of the tranny, around where the input shaft is.. there should be 4-6 maybe 8 (kinda looks like the back of our rear end on our cars)
4. unbolt the tail end of the transmission
5. slide the tail end off, give the shifter fork assembly an upward jiggle, and it will come off and you will see the insides and can determine what the problem is... you should look around the synchroes to see if they are warn down.. its hard to explain, but you will know wear when u see it.
6. while your there check 3rd gear, and the input shaft.. these are the parts that usually get the most wear and tear...
