GT Hood Scoop with no grille?

ok so i bought an aftermarket GT style hood scoop for my v6 but it is open in the front, with no honeycomb grille. i've heard that without the grille air will fly up under the scoop, possibly causing it to fly off. it has one bolt on each side, and two in the back holding it on i think. could it really fly off at high speeds? i've only been up to like 60 since putting it on. so do i need to reinforce it somehow? and is there anyway to make a gt scoop grille fit on it? i really don't want the scoop to fly into my windshield going down the highway

If you bolt it down then it wont fly off. But regardless it will cause extra drag at highway speeds. Doesn't really matter though, even if it did have the insert I would still bolt it to the hood.

You think the honeycomb piece doesnt cause drag? It still have gaps in it.

If it is bolted on you will be fine. Some people put a rod in where the honeycomb insert goes. Put something in the middle to avoid it from flexing if you want the added security

Of course even with the insert it causes drag, just less than it would without it. But it really doesn't matter, never would be able to feel the difference.

That's a very expensive project compared to the $100-200 you'd spend on a GT hood scoop. Plus the CDC shaker looks like complete shit so the only route I would take would be a Mach 1 hood with the Mach 1 shaker setup. And that ain't cheap.

They don't come on six's from the factory unless you get an package upgrade, i.e. Pony Package or the old Python kit.

I'd look for an insert if it were me. I doubt it'd break free from the bolts but that scoop filling with air at speeds will cause drag, and IMO doesn't look very good.

true.. i think it would look better with the insert, and i dont really want any extra drag. now i need to find a honeycomb insert, and see if it will work on this aftermarket scoop..

99% of people that do this regret it...you know where you coil pack is...know where the water during a rain falls on with a functional scoop...wanna guess how much dirtier an engine bay gets when everything can get onto it while driving. the only reason shaker kits work is because they route the air to the box and have water channels

you don't have your ignition coil sitting right below where the hole will deposit the water...
