How Did Your 7.5" Break
I was wondering what the normal failure points on the 7.5" axle are, do they tend to blow apart the spider gears, break teeth on the ring/pinion gears, ect. I'm interested in what specific part broke in your 7.5" and whether you had stock gears and a stock open diff or if you had replaced them with something else (if something else please mention what you had).

Ok wendell rich and mike will all vouch for me in that I am the only guy to break a stock rear on stock rear end power. Honest to god ii was horsing around I was just driving my stang home and bam. Rear blew. And to answer your question my rear broke at the spyder gear...as in 1 broke....but the problem is when one breaks....its practcially shrapnel blasting the inside of you differential...cas in point the previous driver before me must of shock waved my car meaning a jolt was sent to the rear and hair line fractured a spyder gear setting up a ticking time bomb cuz when my rear blew one gear snapped right in half causeing the adjacent gear to fracture into 3 pieces then inturn fracturing the parallel gear only one of my 4 gears were intact.further more when the one the broke into pieces broke is took a chunk of my differntial side wall or w/e....so anyway bottom line axels usally never snapp its the spyder gears...and now I have a rebuilt rear with a posi and 3.73s

Worked on an 02 with a friend who did something stupid in it and ended up breaking a few teeth on the sider gears, ended up throwing a T-lok into his and selling it anyway.

I bounced off a curb while staring at a group of protesters on the side of the road. It was a spot near my home where you would be pretty surprised to see people picketing.
The axle housing was bent, but it took a few weeks for the bearing and axle shaft to fail. I just thought they were old, so they were replaced with new parts that failed in a few weeks. The bent axle end was cut off and a new one welded on using an alignment tool at Rearend Specialties in Santa Clara, CA. All bearings, shafts, seals, 3.73 gears and TLok were installed at the same time since it was a total tear down. Bottom line: I've got 160K miles in 2 99-04 V6 Mustangs and I'm not gentle at all, especially when I've had a bad day. I can attest that you will not break a 7.5 on stock power unless you rev it to redline and drop the clutch in reverse with drag slicks all day every day. From what I have read it seems like the 7.5" is more than a match for any normally aspirated 3.8L V6. It is probably fine for centrifugal forced induction as well, given the slower spool up. It's only the >350 HP that comes with a turbo 3.8L that appear to warrant an 8.8" rear end. I'm probably biased by years of satisfaction with 7.5" rear ends

Was leaving a stop light, and going into second I heard a clank ... Metal soup stock open diff.
Second time playing around after leaving the club one night, guess I didn't notice it but the next morning it was a bit clanky.
