What Size Drag Slick on a 15x7 stock wheel?

As title says:

I'm wanting to run some stock 15x7 V6 wheels for racing.

What size slicks would be optional for this wheel ?
Stock stall in my auto, so im not launching real crazy some something small will work fine im sure.

I know some much stronger mustang guys have used these wheels and stuck with a 26x8-8.5x15 slick. But Im thinking that maybe excess sidewall for me ? Maybe something shorter to not effect my 3.73s gears so much ? Maybe a 24 or 22 ? Im thinking I seen alot of honda stuff over those guys using 22x8 on 15x7 wheels.

So what do you guys think ?

WELL its a 225/50/15 DR

Same item: 2 NEW 225/50-15 BFG G-FORCE DRAG RADIAL 2 50R15 R15 50R TIRES | eBay

Im more or less wondering what diameter I should run not going with a 28, probably would have to roll fenders for that. Maybe, im running a 27'' street tire with a few problems I need to get looked at ... tires a bit to big w/o some fabbing.

so a 26 would be great, but would it help/hurt/anything to go with a 22 or 24'' diameter. I understand the taller the tire kinda "takes away" from you lowering gearing. So a smaller diameter might add to the effects of lower gearing, or take away less from them for say ...

That's kinda small. Don't you want a wider tire in the rear so you can hook better? Yes if you go smaller it will add to the effect of your steeper gearing BUT that may also make you roast your tires easier and add unwanted spin off the line.

edit: also if you have/buy some wheel Spacers that might help with your clearance issues depending on which direction they're in.

Well, I was thinking about a 26x8-9 slick at first

225 is almost a 9'' section width. So would I really be losing ?

I mean with my Nitto NT555 street tires (285/40/18) im not really having any traction issues on these new tires, so I figure I wont have any with a slick or DR.

If your going to get slicks, you need to get front runners too. Radials in front and Bias Ply in back makes for a really scary ride down the strip. You car will pull all over the place. If you don't want to get front runner, get a nice set of drag radials. My NT555Rs let me dump the clutch at 5k with no spin. I hear the ET streets are just as good, but more forgiving. My nittos are fine though.

If you're not spinning your street tires, why are you looking at slicks? If you actually need slicks, I'd recommend either a 26x8-15 or 26x9-15 for your wheel size. I would advise against a 22" or 24" diameter tire.

Front runners aren't a necessity when running a bias-ply slick, but they are a nice addition. At the OP's power level, I wouldn't be at all concerned about it. I have no issues whatsoever running my heavy 4V car (the XR7 in my sig) with 165R15 front radials and 28x11.50-16 ET Streets. No matter what, a bias-ply slick takes some getting used too, as they will sway a bit up top. If it's your first time out, it will be a little unnerving until you're used to it. Sway will be more pronounced with a wide front radial, slightly less with a skinny front radial, and again, slightly less with a skinny front bias-ply.

huh interesting.

And the reason being is that I dont want to eat up my street tires racing on them especially when my local tire shops FUCK my rims up when getting new tires ... About to buy a new set of rear wheels paid for by walmart

I know I dont "need" them right now, but Id like something lighter weight to race on and also the reason I said about using up my street tires ...

Honestly, for your setup, I think you would be happiest with a pair of these:
