I would never run it 15k. You have I tendency of believing too much of what you read I see. Regular should be run for 3-5k max. I use the extended so that way if I get busy (which I do with my work schedule) and can't change the oil at 5-6k it's not gonna be bad on my engine. Like I said you won't find what you like until you try it. Every engine reacts differently to different oil. Trial and error. Try the Mobil 1

You know those 3 or so rings that go around the top of the piston? Yeah, those are the rings I'm talking about. No fun replacing those. That means the heads come off, oil pan off, whole piston/conrod assembly comes out the top of the block. It sucks. Hope it is not that.
Anyways, keep an eye on your oil level regularly, monitor your intake and your plugs for signs of excess oil consumption. Keep in mind that if you're still running catalytic converters the excess oil in the mixture can foul them and render them useless. However even if your car is sucking oil bigtime, it isn't a death sentence. As long as it has enough oil to lubricate the engine, you're fine. One of my sister's friends had an old 95 Neon she got for $300 that sucked oil like you wouldn't believe. It was high mileage (~200k) and not worth rebuilding, so she just kept feeding it oil. Kept it for several years, ran fine. As long as she fed it oil, you could call it a honey badger, because it didn't give a shit. After all you can feed 2-strokes oil all day long, the only consequence is lousy emissions. Plus at the rate it got new oil you almost never needed to change oil. Just keep in mind if you don't check oil (regardless of what brand) and it gets too low, bearings get starved for oil, and your motor will become a boat anchor oh so quickly.

I think I'll chime in on this one. Quaker State and Penzoil were paraffin based oils back in the day. They absolutely would cause engine gunk build up if you didn't change your oil regularly and sometimes even if you did. Oil has come a long way since then and all engine oils are far, far superior to the early days.
Any oil is sufficient for daily use when changed on schedule. High performance engines and extreme duty use engines are best served with synthetic oil. You won't have to worry about when your oil's lubricating qualities will break down with synthetic because it never will. The extra cost is the best money you'll ever spend on your car. Back in the day, you'd be lucky to get more than one race run on your oil before it broke down. Now, you can race all day and even drive it home with no problem. The good 'ol days are here (for engine oil.)

My KN filter is really oily, soggy and dirty. I'm under the assumption it has never been cleaned before. Funny thing is I can still light passing through
I think I may have screwed it up. I use a handheld scrubber like ones you will use to clean bathtub to agitate the filter after it soaked in dish detergent and mean green. I'm leaning towards just buying a regular paper filter from Napa tomorrow..

Next time, use the correct cleaner and don't scrub it.
