In Need of Suggestions

So, my car has been throwing me ridiculous pinging issues. Thus, I've began tearing my engine down to inspect my cylinders if it's crazy carbon build up or simply shot.

Last thing I did today was remove the fuel rail. Plus, my injectors are clean but manifolds are gunky in a couple places.

Nonetheless, since its getting torn down, what are some good mods for our motors? I have a windstar upper in my mind, but what else would be good for a decent V6?

I might have a windstar for you if I buy the m112 setup my friend said he might be getting.

That's awesome! Good look man! Just text me, to let me know!

What's a decent, but not crazy sounding cam? I've only really heard those crazy 218/226 duration w/ .5 lift. I'm debating if it will be worth it really for my stang.

You tried swapping the coil pack before tearing down yes?

Depending how far down your going you could do H/C/I or you could just cam it.

What cam doesn't need head work?
Also, I didn't swap the coil pack, the pinging has been so bad that I want to make sure it hasn't damaged my engine.
I'm set on the Windstar upper though, so H/C/I might be the best bet for me.. unless...

Question: Where are the engine block coolant drain plugs/bolts?

No cam REQUIRES head work. some will require new valvesprings and pushrods, maybe that's what you meant?

< Has a spare cam of the same spec you posted, and a PR length checker. This means you can buy, Ill tell you what springs/retainers to get for it, then you install stuff back together, measure what size PR's you need. Buy if needed. Install things.

Im sure if you dont want something that loud you should know that you need high flow cats/ O/R exhuast. On a stock exhuast w/ 4 cats even with a good cat back design, it will still be quiet becasue of the 4 cats.... damn those things.

Good chance things mine run a bit ruff, might be fairly smooth. Never know, varies car to car, but you a email tune from VMP w/ a hand held tuner would be smart, Dyno tune even better....

No need to drain coolant from block/engine. Drain what you can from the coolant hoses, even when you get down past the heads you won't be leaking anything, you'll be right above the runners where the coolant sits.

As far as what mods...it depends on how deep your wallet is.

I pm'd esg, I'll have him custom make me one. I gotta keep 2 cats for inspection around here(visual). I plan on LT's and may get it dynotuned @ street lethal or somewhere else a little closer to me.

I actually have a couple connections + a shop that hooks me up. So, the car will only see miner mods like H/C/I. Pocket ain't too deep and I won't spend too much time on it, but I'll possibly tackle the body and paint this coming spring.

BTW, I was inspired by your vids on youtube.lol

@goren Thanks man! What I needed to know! Reps

So True... I have Borla dual exhaust and the H-Pipe adapter. Damn it's still quiet because of those back cats...

Update:

Lower Intake and Water Pump is off next. Then Headers, and heads.

Hoping the Cylinders and Pistons are fine. Then, the fun begins!
