04 V6 True Dual - Help Me

Ok, so I have been trying to figure out what the best option is in converting my 04 V6 Mustang into a true dual exhaust. I am trying to find out what would give me the best performance and sound out of a true dual conversion, as I will be looking to have this done next month.

I have been looking at these two items:
PaceSetter V6 Dual Exhaust Adapter Kit

Flowmaster American Thunder Catback Exhaust

The question that I have is, what additional parts, if any, is needed for this addition? Will this give me a true dual exhaust conversion?

I am also looking to replace/upgrade my headers as I go into this process. I currently have an exhaust leak, so instead of repairing them, I want to just go ahead and upgrade them. So, what is the best headers to get, price and performance wise. Also, would I need a certain type of headers for the parts listed above, shorties or long tube?

If possible, I would like to go with a package I could install myself, so bolt-on would be requested, no welding. But, if I could get a better deal out of a shop job, that could work as well.

Oh, and here's the car:

you'd get a much better deal at an exhaust shop....

as for performance...don't expect much but a tiny bit of throttle response. the sound difference is what makes a dual exhaust worth it. The catback you found would sound good...call around some shops and get quotes for a similar exhaust....most will have flow 40's in stock. Find out what type of tubing they use and how they bend it.

btw welcome..post a better pic of the side...i'm undecided on the wheels since i can't see them lol

Have a shop Fab it up. Definitely. Mac-Longtube Headers are a great upgrade. I love them.

What should I expect to pay if I go with an exhaust shop? And, what setup would be best, an H-Pipe or X-Pipe?

I will post up a side shot later, don't have a clean one store currently. And I was thinking about going with a set of black rim later on, along with the Roush stage 3 body kit.

exhaust shops vary from location to location..around here a full exhaust with mufflers would run $250ish, but some people on here get quotes of $400ish...

as for midpipe it's up to you....you could try divorced (so no midpipe), and be perfectly fine...you might like it more....

if you want it deep go h pipe...if you want loud go x pipe....if you want something you don't see often and have the money go Prochamber.

also BEST setup is up to you....check out here

Shops charge different prices, you would have to ask around, i paid around 230 total, thats with some extra work added on, as for H-pipe or X-pipe, thats on you. H-pipe is a little deeper sounding x-pipe is more raspy.

Wow, you don't know how much all this information just helped me out. I was thinking I would be spending at least around $1000 for the full exhaust. So, from what I heard over on the clips thread, I think I am going to go with the:
-MAC LT Headers
-Divorced Pipes
-Flowmaster 40s

I guess I'll call up the nearest shop around and get a quote soon. Also, do you guys have any recommendations on where I should buy the MAC Long Tube Headers from, or should I just have the shop order them?

About the headers question: Depends on what the shop says. Every shop is different and has different prices on their items. So it could be cheaper to buy it yourself or they could get it for a cheap price. It's better to ask around first and see your options.

i wouldn't order from a shop for LTs....reason being they might not get it at wholesale cost....either way they would mark it up to make a profit, and that's usually a 20% markup...now depending on their cost that could be slightly more then what you'd pay from an online dealer like MAC or way more

Just buy your longtubes yourself on the net, cut off your exhaust at your house, unbolt your stock headers, replace with longtube headers and then drive to whatever (hopefully local) exhaust shop your getting done at. just bring your old flanges off your stock exhaust pipe with you incase they want those to use to help fabricate.

Yeah his where I chime in...ny is out ragous for fabing exhuast...
For the shop (monroe) to cut off y pipe..fab up the pipes for divorced duals...hang them hang the mufflers (flowmaster 40s which I brought to them) and then bend the tail pipes (from scratch) 543.94 and they still fucked up...I say sence I'm the only one who has this happen go with fab'n ur exhuast...as for me I'm buying cat backs and cutting the y pipe off by my self nxt time

There is actually someone on this forum somewhat closeish to where i live 0_o it's about damn time. also, it was 300ish for me with flo sounds? (not sure on the muffler name, shop didn't tell me) and it was a divorced dual set-up... although, they messed it up and now i can't get my drive shaft off because the sop put my mufflers too close together >.<

Factory Cut FTW ! cheap, free, cheap, easy, sexy Good "im bored" thing to do for your car, or if you dont need to spend money on it but feel like doing something to it.

As for exhuast:

Basic: Catback: H pipe, flow 40s (or knock off) dumped just before rear axle pointing slightly outward also

Advanced: Prochamber mide pipe on same set up or possibly no/other mufflers

Performance + stages: Long tubes, cat less (O/R) or two name brand high flow cats, O2 system adjusted for if needed.

Power mod effecting exhaust tone: cam.

Done
