Did IAC Gasket mod on auto 95 sixxer.....
And boy what a fucking difference! I know this car to a T and this thing feels almost completely different. Once the computer re learned it, this thing sails. The shifts are harder and quicker, the sound is much growlier and louder (divorced duals / flow40s), faster pick up, it's just all around better. For about 5 minutes of my time along with double cleaning the IAC, this little mod made a huge difference. Try it, maybe you'll like it. I know it's been usually tested on manual tranny cars, but this thing really made my auto pick up (these have notoriously slow trannys, so this helps). I see zero negative side effects as long as you do this correct. Nothing but improvement, no stalling whatsoever. Now obviously if you have a newer stang or tuners or gears probably not as much a difference, but for a guy like me with a 95 single port sixxer and no tuner this mod helped alot.

Sorry buddy, but no way in hell this "mod" helped any performance aspect of your car.
The IAC shuts off as soon as you are in throttle, it is the "Idle Air Controller", therefore it is ONLY used when the car is in IDLE. All it does it allow air to get into the system while the throttle body is closed... The gas pedal spacer, however, does work. With the slack in the thottle cable, it is physically impossible to reach a true "Wide Open Throttle" because your throttle body can't go completely horizontal. Adding the spacer sleeve removes the slack and actually does all you to reach a horizontal state. Does it increase throttle response? Not really.

I did it. 78 cent space from Ace Hardware. It's nothing to call home about but it does get rid of the slack felt in the pedal...

Agreed. The IAC "mod" just restricts air to the IAC in a rigged effort to get the rpms to drop quicker. The right way to do this would be by changing the dashpot values in the tune file. Either way, it doesn't increase performance. If there is enough slack in your throttle cable to prevent the throttle blade from reaching WOT, then the cable has stretched (which is completely feasible).

I think gas pedal mod was worth it, no lag, but this IAC deal, not so much.

Oh so 99% of this means I'm either mentally ill or I'm making it up? Negative. I know this car and the feel of it and this thing picks up faster now, shifts are faster, less lag and two different people have told me it's louder (I agree I can hear the loudness myself) that heard it before. Might be subjective but I don't think it's super coincididental. I think it helps, doesn't matter since I'm the driver of it right? I think it's worth a shot but also note I'm on a 95 so I stated above it probably wouldn't matter much on newer stangs. I think 94-98 guys should definitely do this, just my two cents. Our cars have slow tranny shifts and are starved for mods imo. |

Look you guys are cool and I understand your sentiment because alot of this stuff is placebo effect, no doubt. All I know is, this thing feels different in almost every aspect. I can't explain it to you here, but it does. I don't lie or imagine things like a ricer. I have consistently tested this car with mods and little things and it has improved. Perhaps the SN95's being so old and slow, are more able to do this? I noticed a pretty big difference with dual exhaust as well, so I think it's just because you guys have more power already "there".

LOL, "in your head" means that you think you feel a difference, but not really. Noise can alter your projection a lot.
Just like exhaust. A lot of people think putting a set of mufflers on their GT gave them 20 hp. It's more like 5, but the added sound makes you think horsepower. If you like it, good.

Just take a second and try to come up with a way that restricting air flow to the IAC will add power...
