What weight oil do you use/mileage and will 10w30 be safe to use??
I just put in 5w-20 and my car has 150k miles. I was thinking if I should use a higher weight such as 10w-30.
But I heard the engine might not to able to flow to all parts of the engine, the oil feed holes may be clogged or not big enough to probably oil with the higher weight oil Thanks |

99-00 Ford calls for 5w-30. 01-04 calls for 5w-20.
I have a 2000 and run Mobil 1 full synthetic high mileage 5w30. 152k.

Humm I have heard 10w-30 is good to use as well in the summer because both weights of the oil are the same at normal operating temperatures

I would always run 5w-30 mobil 1 in any 3.8. 5w-20 is too thin for my liking. And I would not run 10w-30 because its too thick for winter.

Go with 5w-30 if you want full protection or just go with the 5w-20 that ford "recommends" on all 2001+ vehicles.
a 2000 mustang will say 5w-30, while a 2001 will say 5w-20 even though nothing has changed. Ford did it because youll get 0.1 better mpg with 5w-20 so they could meet CAFE standards. Is it worth running the bare minimum protection just to follow what the manufacture says? imo, no. 5w-30 is all my 3.8 will see because its what the engine was designed to run
