heating problem

Well for a short while I had problem with my heating the temp gauge would show that there head and at time the temp gauge would show at norm heat where the needle would be half way....

So my dad said there might be an air pocket so we took na 15 mm wrench to the...idk what you call it.. the bleeder bolt or w/e at the top nof the engine. We twisted the bolt a little lose enough to here hissing as if there was air in the lines and in fact there was..for a good 1 2 minutes air came out with no coolant and once coolant came out we tighten the bolt and closed the hood and now I had heat..pretty nice and warm

Fast foward to last night...problem re occured and today on the way to work I had no heat and I drove fore 30 minutes so there's no way my car didn't build heat because the gauge was directly at half way between ccold and hot..

Then I open the hood and there's spray(of coolant) on the fan battery holder and ...practically a light spray on the acsory belt also

What the hell???

Sounds like your upper radiator hose blew. There is probably a hairline split somewhere.

This seems to be a common problem.

Mine just had a really big air pocket. For me it would work fine under load, but as soon as I stopped and rpms went below 1500, the blew ice cold.

Just had to burp it, drive for 20 minutes, come back and burp it again, and did that for about an hour.

Now it's not doing it anymore.

try bleeding the system again. I had to do it 3 or 4 times before I got it all out. Sometimes it's good to drive for a day then bleed again. It can be a very tedious task.

sounds like my issue kinda

I took out the bleeder plug like you did, and took off the radiator cap. Then useda funnel to fill up the coolant from the bleeder hole, once it reached full at the cap, I replaced it, then kept filling until it overflowed at the bleeder hole. Then replaced the bolt. And worked like a charm for about a week, then couple night ago it did it again, refilled again today and worked like a charm again ...

is it going on the ground or somewhere else?

and what I did to fix my problem what I took off the bleeder valve, filled it up with a funnel, made sure the radiator was full, and then started the car. Just kept the radiator full and after about 30 seconds coolant started bubbling through the bleeder. Once it got where there were no more bubbles and just coolant, I capped it off.

Got a little messy, but it did the trick. Heater blows real hot now.

When I did my IMRC swap I had forgotten to fill the bleeder and I guess it just kept getting worse and worse.

Oddly enough, I rebuilt my engine and finished that back in what may ? something like that, anyways, I just filled up the radiator. Went about my buisness, never had problems, used my heat several times, about 3 weeks ago I started having my first heater problems, did the coolant fill from the over flow tube and fixed it, drove about a week and it comes back. Did the same fix and its good so far lol

But it should fix it fairly quick, their is a bypass to get around the thermostat so it should fill things up even w/ thermo closed.

yea that's how mine was. I did my IMRC deleted last June (2010) and it didn't start having issues until this September.
