Getting sick of single port.....
Single port here, but wanna switch. I know switching to GT requires quite a bit more of a donor car, but what about a switch to say a split port v6 engine? Can I just drop the new engine and ECU in and call it a day?

you can just do the heads/intakes
or new engine you will need to swap injecors if you do new engine, and mod the fuel rail.

Any rough idea on cost? I don't wanna put too much more into this car cause it's older, but give it a kick in the ass. It's already not too bad imo, but I'd like to do this swap.

Upper intake is no good by itself. You need the heads & lower intake to bolt it to. Lol, all if that will bolt you your engine, though. The bottom end is pretty much the same, save for the cam, your 95 has different size head bolts or something? Can't quite remember that part. anyway, DO NOT swap the harness .. Blahh, you know what? I should really do a write up for this .. Just PM me if you're actually going to do it
However, I will say that the m90 route would be better if your just looking for more power. split port swap alone isn't a "wow" upgrade, in my opinion ..

As a matter of fact, here's somebody selling a pretty solid m90 swap for only 300 plus shipping. Including 373 gears & tloc! Great deal ..
FS: M90 kit and T-loc w/ 3.73 gears

ok here it is..(not sarcastic ..just trying to help out)
94-98 single port; 99-04 split port....same engine block....same thing... In a nut shell the difference in the two are the heads upper and lower intake nd fuel rail that's it The bottom end in both engine are the same....same block same ect lol The only difference is instead you have two intake runers per cyl Do note that doing the swap will not make your car fast but will indeed be a good upgrade...FoR a 6...plus I think your car is slightly lighter

m90 swap would be nice...i've seen alot of cheap m90 kits at mustang swap meets so i know you can find the parts needed online...pm ESG for a full list. Not a huge hp plant but the torque is nice. My friend Jeremy has a Super Coupe as a play thing and it runs with me on the 1/8th just fine (in my last v6)

If you decide to go the Split-Port route, you will need:
99-04 Heads 99-00 Lower Intake 99-00 Upper Intake 99-00 Coil Pack and Matching Plug Wires 99-00 Throttle Body E-150 (conversion van) Fuel Rail Keep your harness to hook everything too. Do an oil and coolant flush when you are done. And have the car tuned to the performance. I have heard anywhere around 30 hp gains, it's a good mod for $300 but like said, the m90 is better if you want the boost route. The supercoupe package will bolt right up to your engine.

M90 can easily be done on a budget, and he sounds like he's not wanting a whole lot of power, so why not m90 it If you want to put power down go turbo. Going turbo myself would have been smarter power wise, but I knew that from the begining. I did N/A on purpose and love it. More power would be great, but even the thought of nitrous is last on my list, I love pulling decent numbers with nothing but engine and surprising people
![]() But if you just want a bunch of power go for the turbo. Decent Power on budget, M90. |
