Considering an M90 build on my spare 94
Hey guys,
As stated, I have a spare mustang sitting and collecting dust. Its a stock 94 V6. It was my first car @ 16 and has been around the block. Acting stupid I broke the T5 in it, had it repaired for 900$ and it sat beside the car for about a week or two till I could get back out and work on it. During this time it was stolen by some people associated with my F up brother... was last traced shortly after a few hours away and couldn't find it past that ... So there it sat, I drove our spare truck for quite some time, and finally bought my 04 that I drive now. ![]() Last year maybe, I went to a pick n pull and pulled a T5 out of a 96 and brought it home in my trunk lol, I had to re seal it w/ RTV which im hoping holds well, I cleaned it the best I could w/o pulling completely apart ... Need to seal the box around the shifter and its ready to go back in. Car ran great, but probably needs a damn good tune up after sitting this long. Last I worked on it, I was trying to get the clutch cable back onto the lever ... with a PITA this is ... other then that, finish the T5, pop it in, mount bracket and other little things to it. Put starter back in. Bolt up exhaust and DS. Put interior parts back together. Start the mofo and hope it doesn't shit due to the old ass gas I forgot to put anything in to keep it from getting to old ... damn it -_- Anyways, thats the status of that car. Its got about 110k on the engine, and the T5 I got out of like a wrecked 60k mile 96 v6 FYI. Here she sits as of about two months ago maybe ? ![]() ![]() ![]() So as I said, Im throwing around the idea of retiring the idea of things such as stall and other performance mods to the 04 and building something to enjoy at the track only w/ the 94. M90 sounds like an awesome build. Turbo would be great but I like the low end tq So m90 it is. No turbo. Sorry. Thats what I want to build and i will ![]() Now that thats clear, just know im trying and trying to read up on this to get as much knowledge as possible. Some of m resources so far: Everything Turbo & Supercharger General M90 info - V6Power Messageboard http://www.v6power.net/vb/showthread.php?t=5716 Have questions about the M90 SC? Come here first. - Page 3 This is just a start and I have glanced at a couple of smaller ones that people doing the swap have posted and plan on reading much more. If anyone more knowledgable would like to put some usefull info in for me, or other usefull links about this, please do !!!! You dont have to explain things if their is a good thread, ill read up on it, but feel free to comment as you please if you want to explain it ![]() I realize its gonna take some time and money to get this thing really going, but F it idc. The car isn't going to sell for much and would be a great donor for a project like this. I could do something w/ a V8 but I like doing something different and this m90 build sounds like alot of fun. Now some things to point out about it, I dont want a stock m90 sc set up ... SHLOW :p anyways, plan is to end up with a P&P HCI, Full exhaust, etc etc. Im doubting the internals in the 94 will hold up to this, and Id rather have the better flowing SC heads. So obviously I want a full SC engine. Then again I do have a 04 block that just needs some new cam bearings, but I think id still want the sc over that block anyways since its forged. This is something I could take my time on, I could build the engine in my shop on stand, and not worry about having to get my DD back on the road asap. I also realize the T5 and clutch wont last long on this set up. That will come in time though. Would be best to do what I want in the first place though, no point in screwing with things over and over. So I want a good blower, maybe do some home porting if I have any tools to do so lol Or buy an after market ported blower, not sure. Anyways, Ill prob go with ARP stuff, and I just want things built right the first time. Seen some set ups getting 300-350 hp and 400+ tq and thats what Id like to end up getting to. So Im pretty sure for the life Ill need the SC block. I knew the this level of power, obviously N/A doesn't need forged materials. So thats what im wrapping my head around ATM. Not 100% sure if im going that route or not. Gonna get the T5 in and get it to driving first. |

I already know of those two, but I need 42# injectors, not stock ones, and I want a complete engine so I get the SC block also

That is pretty damn expensive but it is a full supercoupe engine with the m90...I wish I could go f/I with $1000-1500 (factoring in the tune assuming you would be doing the swap yourself)
Regardless I think it's an awesome idea

As I said, the exact same thing was on CL for like 350 not to long ago ... and thats 999$ + 35 shipping + the comments talk about more shipping charges, if you read by any chance.
Way to crazy And im not sure for me personally now, I get charged by the hour on the dyno w/ my 04 now, but idk if that would carry over to my 94 build or not ... who knows ... |

So you put all that money into the 04 and youre going to boost your other V6?
I think you need to figure out what you really want before you go spending more money and time on a build. I'd fix up the older V6 and just sell it and use the money on your 04, but my .02

I'm kinda leaning toward Six Banger's idea, but it would also be nice to have a project that is not your daily... would love to get a new daily and make mine a part-timer...

my 04 is 10x nicer then this 94, id much rather have it as a niec dd. So why not put the wear and tear on something else. That way it dont matter if I fuck it up. The 94's paint is pretty bad fadded, dents, chips, hood is fucked up ( cant see in pics ). Id much rather have the 94 as FI build. Personally I like the idea of a m90 more then a turbo. I have my reasons and they may not be logical, but thats the direction I want to go. Going to take my time on this, not gonna rush, will probably base how fast I go on how much money I have stowed away.
But hell who knows, maybe one day if I get the m90 set up built Ill put it in the 04 and do something stupid and bigger to the 94 again haha |

Well mike, hate to put it to you like this but your lack of knowledge about power adders is going to end up costing you more money. m-90 sucks ass and you will never be capable of 12's without adding nitrous, much less 11's.
What makes you think a turbo doesnt produce low end tq? Check out my vids of when I had the stock gn turbo on my car, it built boost so fast it'd make your head spin. With the right turbo/tq converter combo you will experience no lag what so ever. I'm going to have to make another video to show you how fast this 6262 builds boost from a dead stop on my 3.9l. I put a bb 5857 on a stock 99 v6 stick car and it builds full boost by 2800rpm on just the wg spring. It would build boost 2-300rpm faster if he run a bleeder style boost controller.

Well how much is it gonna cost me to do that on a 94 block and what are my limits with that block if I turbo as is.

Depends on where you buy your hot side or build it your self. I charge $700 for headers wg dump and crossover shipped and you can just dump the downpipe near the front tire since it will a race car so it'll be cheaper. Then you'll need a turbo, fuel, maf, and tune which you'll need on the m-90 reguardless. You could run it up to 400rwhp which is good for mid 11's or better.
