Reconditioning a Battery?

I may have solved my pasasitic power bleed but I think I am too late to save the battery. The first cell (next to + post) only reads 1.60v on the voltmeter while all others read 2.01v or 2.02v. This is after charging the battery / running the car for about 30 minutes. I have been reading where you can possibly recondition your own car battery usuing distilled water and magnesium sulfate (epsom salt). Has anyone tried this? Does it work? Does it solve the problem or should I just get a new battery? Thoughts . . . ? Thanks

One cell of the battery is off by 0.4V? What's the overall voltage on the battery when it's charged? Is the battery still in warrenty?

If it's still in warrenty, I would take it back and exchange it. If it's not and still works, I would use it until it dies.

No its not under warranty otherwise thats the first thing I would have done. Battery will read upwards of 12.25v but the first cell will still individualy read 1.6v and after about 3 days there will not be enough umph to start the car. So technically as far as i am concerned it is as good as dead. Hence the original question still stands, Thanks
