Header/Manifold Heat Wrap

Alright guys heres what im having a lil problem with, im running a 91 Octane Race tune from Bama. Now when the weather is cool like in the mornings and at night the car runs like a champ however during the day (im in cali so it gets pretty hot sometimes) i start to get pinging around 3500-4000 rpms due to increased temps in the engine bay and the hot weather. Now i had the idea of wrapping the manifolds with Mishimotos heat wrap from American Muscle in order to keep temps down. Mishimoto Mustang Exhaust Heat Wrap Set (All Years) MMTW-235 - Free Shipping!

Do you think this would help or is this a horrible idea?

Edit: Have new NGK Copper Plugs, new fuel filter, And I already seafoamed the car twice. However i still have the stock wires that came with the car (prob the original factory wires)

PM me over your last order number, so that I can pull up your tunes and take a look!

Before you go looking into ways to fix it, let me take a look into the tune to make sure that we wrote the tune correctly on our end and that it matches the mods you submitted.

Sometimes, during the winter months, the quality of fuels available at the pump aren't great. The heat really shouldn't be playing into it, unless the car is getting hot and an intake air temp or engine coolant temp sensor isn't working/reading, so the PCM cannot pull timing based on these temperatures. That would show a check engine light for one of those two sensors, though.

Let's start by ruling out the custom tune. Maybe we'll find a small problem in the tune and it's as easy as that.

If not, we can rule that out and move on diagnosing it... we'll get you squared away!

Chris
