Check Fuel Cap

Ok, I know this is stupid, already checked it everything was fine disconnceted the batt. went away, now again today it decided to go on. wtf. This happend months ago but never came back on til today any suggestions before buying a new gas cap.

Not getting a good seal around it?

Might have a rusted Hole in the Gas Cap Hole?

it happened to a friends 02 GT.

Check after filling the car with gas, Just Crawl up under that biotch and see if its leaking around there. Other than that, Im not sure. :|

just color over the CEL with a sharpie

or put a piece of black paper over the light in the instrument cluster. just a thought though.

buy a new cap...if after a drive cycle the light and code doesn't go away then it's probly the filler neck has warped and not the cap....

That's what happened with mine. Ended up blowing the filler neck grommet out. But CEL said it was fuel cap.

Don't color over the CEL, what happens if you get an actually bad CEL and you don't notice?
