check engine

my check engine light is on. the code reads : bank 1 rich, bank 2 rich (P0172, P0175). I replaced my spark plugs and my plug wires, but it still continues to come on. I am due for inspection in a month, and I'd like to know what else this could be.

my car was completely stock when the light came on. I've been turning it off with my tuner, but it's annoying. It usually only comes on when I reset my battery. my list of aftermarket things is below.

Id say something within the exhaust triggered your sensors to go haywire. Just like mine. Now the light is going to stay on until the thing gets fixed. When the light comes on, your fuel/air ratio gets taken off its default setting and the car starts to take up alot of fuel all at once. Which is now why youre getting alot of rich codes. And itll contunue to stay this way until the problem is solved. Start troubleshooting...

how many miles and have you ever messed with you O2 sensors? sounds like you have one that is going out...

i would know... mine finally went this morning ... on my way to the shop... they tried to clean them a bit and cleand the MAF and IAT for 35 bucks... not a bad use of money.... now my car doesn't bog in the lower RPM's so have that looked at and give your sensors a good cleanin

try fixing the problem the right way or go the cheap way and buy mil eliminators. that way the engine thinks the air is fine all the time

Ive done so, also, and sadly, still dont work. And even went above and beyond to find the problem for them not working either. Had the MILS in the front and the extensions for the sensors in the back installed, light stayed on. Switched them both so that the MILS were in the back and the sensors were in the front, light stayed on.

Then again, driving around with a computer that "thinks" everything is fine isnt really a smart way to go about it either, IMHO. Its just bound to mess up sooner or later. Id rather A. find the problem and spend the money to fix it and get rid of the problem all together, or B. buy a tuner and just disable it completely.

This was a long time ago, havent touched my car for about a year now. Im still kinda 5000 miles away from it. And no, the engine hasnt been bought yet. Its been, hm, postponed due to me being stupid with money. Again.

Its coming though.. Im not rushing it.

But anyway, back on topic. I really dont care about where the MILs and extensions go, the tuner was bought so Im gonna use that sucka to take off the damn light.

it gave me the code, but, only after I unplug and replug my battery, then I erase the codes with my tuner, and they don't come back until I have to screw with the battery. the car runs fine with or without the sensors.

yea... i know but it runs better with the sensors... well it technically should run better unless you have a set tuned a.f ratio... then in that case... you don't technically need them

n/p i just dont understand why the light comes on ONLY after i do something with my battery, and not after i rease the codes. I only have to erase them once per resetting of the computer.

I always thought that it just reset the computer for a while, and after so long the code came back. that's what I never understood.
