04 with the 3.8

I finally looked under the hood and I guess the gods shit on me too, its a 3.8. I read an article that said all of the 40th Aniv. Editions got the 3.9. Oh well, no big deal. It does not change the fact that my son and I will still be hittin the track when we start doing the mods. Thanks for all of your help guys

Thanks, Jeremy and Ethan

How can you be sure its a 3.9???? I'm guessing its a 3.8. My 04 is a 3.8. The 3.9 was originally for the Windstar I think. Im pretty sure all the "basic" mods will be the same. The only difference in the engines is the stroke length which is slightly shorter in a 3.8.

My final assembly date is early in the year which leads me to believe they changed to the 3.9 sometime after the beginning of production in 04. As we all know, the 05s are a 4.0.

Ive heard alot of reasaons why there are 2 different engines but nobody has ever posted a clear reason why IMO
