Oil leaking around lower intake?

Would this happen? I was looking at the engine and I can see a large accumilation of oil sepping from what looks like the lower intake gasket.

I would imagine no oil would even be in the lower intake... am I wrong?

Should I replace the gasket for the lower intake? If so... is this what I need? Felpro/Intake Manifold Gasket (MS95985) | 2003 Ford Mustang 6 Cylinders 4 3.8L SFI | AutoZone.com

Yes. Oil could leak from the lower intake manifold gasket. If you replace it be sure to put some RTV at the corners where the gaskets come together.

If the leak is around the front of the engine it could also be the front cover gasket.

It is on the front. Should I go with the gasket I linked? Seems hella expensive for just a gasket.

lower intake gaskets are not cheap, its a 4 peice kit, and you need some RTV with it. I love RTV used it on many gaskets in my car.

I started taking it apart tonight, but reilized I need a special tool to disconnect the fuel line. I also have to drain the coolant, which I JUST replaced. I did notice a lot of oil in the runners however. Is that normal? One of them had no oil... kinda odd.

I may wait a few to do this. I don't think its that big of a worry... right?

Here's the tool you'll need
OEM/5/16, 3/8, 1/2, 5/8, 3/4 and 7/8 in. A/C and fuel line disconnect tool set (25052) | Line Disconnect Tool | AutoZone.com

I’d be suspicious about the oil though.

Wish I had a friend who lived near by that had done more internal work that me

yea there is oil in the lifter valley that can seep up through the lower gasket if it's not sealing properly.

Don't disconnect the fuel line, just move the fuel rail to the side. Keeps you from dealing with the mess it makes.

It looked like I had to remove the fuel injectors however. How can I do that without disconnecting the fuel?

just pull slightly where the injectors seat in to the head. They are just held in with an o-ring. Pop them all off and then the fuel rail will come up as a complete unit.

There is enough fuel line that allows to lay it on the strut tower.
