V8 swap... I am serious, this might happen soon.

I have been having issues with my engine, and I am going this route. I could get it overhauled but this could be more reliable and give the possibility for an upgrade.

So, don't treat this as just another swap thread.

What am I going to need? I have about a month to search for a donor car. My budget is going to be close to $1,500. I think with a donor car from a junk yard or a wrecked version, this can be achived.

What do you need? A donor car...

You will need:
4.6L Motor
Wiring Harness
ECU
Transmission
Shifter
Radiator
Radiator Hoses
Overflow Tank
Radiator Fans

And I am sure there is more, I'm at work right now which means I can't think straight

So basicly I just need to find a donor car. The search begins. If I can't make it work, I am just gonna get a used 3.8L to put in.

1.) you should figure out what is really wrong with your car.
2.) you could always do the 302 swap
3.) donor 94/95 gt should be easy to find

You would be better off going pushrod IMHO...

A 302 or 351 fuel injected motor should do just fine...

Treat me like an idiot. Which engines are we talking about?

There is a 94 GT sitting next to my house that was wrecked... however the previous owner did not take care of the engine. Not sure if it would be worth it.

Do you think simply getting my engine re-built would be better? Maybe even getting one of the power packs for it? I mean... I am not looking for insane power. However maybe doin a HCI upgrade would be good. Should eliminate my issues as well.

That car next door would be a great donor. Just get a new motor if needed, but that car is 3/4 the battle...

It belongs to my cousin...

I can probally get him to sell it to me for cheap. Figure I would offer it the price that most people sell non-running cars for. The engine runs, but the frame it bent.

So everything from that GT would swap over? He said he just got about $1,000 worth of repairs done to the engine. Said he also had oil in the spark plugs, and they replaced the rings and such.

351w / 427 - won't fit in his budget.

Wouldn't make sense to do a stock 351 without at least a decent set of heads and cam. 1,500 he could potential do a gt40head/cam/302

For $1500 he can do a 302, aftermarket heads and intake...He could do the same with a 351 for $2000...

Shouldn't be to hard ...

Gauges n shit will need to go over, wiring harness, engine, tranny, DS, rearend, if its under the hood it basically needs to go in.

Id love a 302 to play with.

Im thinking Ill finish up with some nitrous on this car sooner or later and maybe some cosmetics and race wheels. Then find a 302 to slam in my 94 and build a bad mofo lol

The old GT sitting next door is a good topic point. However I am concerned about the age of the car. I'm worried that the older parts (transmission, engine, ect) would be worse than mine. Not sure how many miles are on it. The odometer stopped working awhile back. Its deff over 100k.
