new lifters huh ? Maybe the new lifters aren't expanded all the way ? hydrolic w/o pressure inside wont be expanded? < any1 feel free to chime in on that, Ive never had "new" lifters.

But FYI, Once the rocker arm is in place while that cylinder is in TDC on the compression stroke, the valves should be completely closed. And at that point, their should be NO slack between the rocker arm, pushrod, and lifter. If any movement you MIGHT can spin it with your fingers ... maybe. But NO up and down play.

This is where you should have a pushrod length tester tool. @ compression TDC, and the lifter on the base circle of the cam lobe, you would instert this tool and expand until no slack. At that point you must not let the tool contract or expand. remove rocker, pull the tool out. Measure down to the .005 of an inch.

If this does not match the size of your pushrods, then you need to order the correct size.

generally I soak them in oil before putting them in so that they become saturated and expand.

your "supposed to" some say. BUTTTT I never did

Also you can rig up a way to turn the oil pump w/ a drill if you want to prime the pump.

Its the last thing I did basicaly on my build. Primed it, put the cps in. Intake tube, wiring. Start.

Well google some info on use of brand new lifters ... or call the company you ordered them from and ask them what to do.
