96 mustang 3.8

i am still having the same issue with my 96 3.8 mustang. having hesitation issues and car will not acclerate at all i can floor it and it will sputter.at times will stall out a 55 mph. also i can ride at 2200 rpm and will run ok on highway but push to WOT and will bog down.

I have now changed plugs, cam sensor, cranksensor, tps, fuel pump and filter, computer, MAF.
Cats have been removed has dual exhaust. (car ran great after exhaust and cat removal for about a month.)
have cleaned IAC and throttle body.

Please need help even ford dealer has givin up they put computer and MAF on and didnt fix.

didn't see any mention of O2 sensors. Have you checked them?

Have you by chance check your a/f ratio?

Do you have a handheld tuner? Checking your short term fuel trims would be a good notation.

1.) Start the car with the tuner plugged in.
2.) Go to Datalog and select to view your short term fuel trims (the abbreviations are different depending on the tuner)
3.) Watch the variance of the trims at idle for 10 seconds.
4.) 1500 rpm for 10 seconds.
5.) 2000 rpm for 10 seconds.
6.) 2500 rpm for 10 seconds.
7.) 3000 rpm for 10 seconds.

How do they look? At each point they should not vary from 0 much. On a diablosport they should stay between +-3%. On an SCT I believe it should stay between +-1.5.

How is your fuel pressure?

fuel pressure is good. dont have a tuner but have a OTC scanner that can run datastream.

yeah i show have a b1s1 bad O2 will be getting one today. just didnt think that the O2 would make it run as bad as it does.

totally will... O2 sensor controls your A/F. Get that fixed and reset the computer to see if it fixes.

mine bogged like ass on WOT accelleration.

If you think only one is bad, swap the O2s and see if the problem jumps to the other bank. Generally it's the passenger side that goes bad first.

You might have an air leak somewhere. Check all over your intake past the MAF. Also check the vacuum hoses like mustangmike! said.

finally got it fixed. Passenger side upper O2 sensor was the issue. i couldnt get it out of the manifold. so i had to get a new O2 bung and weld a new on in. but runs so much better. i am going to change the driver side soon just to avoid this issue again.
