It would probably be easier to just put the gauges in the bottom radio din slot. If you're dead set on moving the HVAC controls then remove them, find out exactly how they're held in, and that should tell you how hard it would be to move them. I never tried to remove mine so I'm not sure if they're held in there very securely or just chilling like the radio/cd player. Hell, if the HVAC controls are the same size as the cd player then you could probably pull the hanger off of that holds it up and attach it to the HVAC controls and simply hang it on the CD player support, although you might need to fab something else to keep it securely in place. I'm just thinking out loud at this point

Pull the gear selector bezel, then pull the entire center bezel out. 4 screws hold the controls down. probably will have to extend the wires and vac lines.

Yea, at first I wanted to put gauges in the bottom, but the more I look at it I feel the Hvac should have been put in the bottom to begin with. It just makes more sense IMO. I was thinking it may work because they are the same size but yea I'm not sure how the wiring is going to work, and I'm sure there's lines in there to actuate the different air vents and what not so who knows? I guess I'm just going to have to take it apart and see.

I have seen other threads of moving HVAC to bottom. The mounting width is narrower at the bottom location as requires some trimming and a little creative mounting. I would love to do this to my car 1 of these years also.

In my old Probe I relocated the HVAC controls to the center console since I had a touch screen double din installed. I am not sure if I have any pics left from it, but all I had to do was extend the wires for the controls and then extend the vac lines for the blower actuator.

The hardest part is making the cable for the hot/cold selector longer. I have never pulled it on the Mustang, but on the Probe you have what basically looks like a Lawnmower throttle cable connecting the blower motor to the controls. you can just get a replacement lawn mower throttle cable from lowes, cut to length for wherever you place it, and secure it so it doesn't pop loose.

Someone correct me if this isn't the same, but last I checked it was.

I have also seen people mount them into the glovebox, so they are hidden from view.

The only problem I would see with it is the length of the vacuum lines that plug into the back of the controls may be too short. One way to find out for sure though.

it will fit without extendng anything, you just have to do a little re routing of some lines.

the only reason i didnt leave it there is because a double din will not fit in the top two slots because of the vent ducting.

you will also need to find a way to fasten the HVAC panel to the radio bezel or something so it doesnt get pushed in to the opening behind the bottom slot.

Did you still have to modify the bottom opening to allow it to fit?

I really want to do this sometime soon. Im just trying to figure out what gauges to run? I want to run something my car doesnt allready have stock but I also here the stock oil pressure and volts gauges are innacurate? I was thinking along the lines of vaccum, tranny temp, and wideband. What are some of yalls opinions on a good gauge setup for a N/A V6?
