Wheel Spacers

Ok, maybe I can get more one real reply to this.

Stock 02,lowered 1.75 all the way around so I have lost that "4x4" look. Now I want to push the wheels out a bit. I have 225/55/R16 wheels and Firehawk GT Tires. The front tire is recessed from the edge of the fender by an 1" and the rear by 2". Tried to do research but cars are as individual as thier owners.

Do I have to do spacers in the front and back or can I just do them in the back?

Then there is the question of size and type?

Best advice for the best stance?

Thanks

I would recommend upping your wheel size to something like 17x10/10.5 or 18x10/10.5 (or go 17/18x9 if you prefer being able to rotate tires). I saw an S197 down in Branson the other day with 17x8 wheels and wheel spacers. It looked cool from the front of the car but when I got around to the back I could see he was running some skinny wheels with big wheel spacers and it just looked awkward.

You can do hubcentric spacers in the rear only. You need to go to 1.5"+ spacers to avoid having to cut off the tips of your stock studs.

+1

1.5" is what I want in the rear, the Front wheels are perfect for my taste.

I agree up the size of your wheels it's looks odd having spacers with thin wheels, get at least 18/17x9s otherwise like McQueen said it just looks akward. Also since your lowered pretty low you may have a problem with your tires rubbing your rear fenders if you go too wide so keep that in mind

So what if I just go with 1" in the rear? That would make the front and rear tires evenly spaced (1" inside fender), reduced the pushed in look of the rear tires, avoid possible rubbing and maybe not look to bad from the rear? My wheels are only a year old so I am kinda stuck with them for a bit.

I will go with most advice from these forums so 1 more question, please.
Why hubcentric and with or without built in studs?

I really appreciate the help from my fellow 6er's.

Hubcentric spacers prevent vibrations and maintain load bearing on the hub rather than the studs., and using spacers without built in studs will cause a lot of stress on your studs and you will risk damaging them.

Post a pic of your car as it sits right now, angled shot and a rear shot.

If you don't do the hubcentric spacers your studs will not have enough thread to hold. I would recommend 1.5" for the rear. If you go with 1" you may need to cut the tips off your OEM studs as they are longer than 1" and will/may contact the inside face of the wheel.

ps - when I was test fitting 2010 GT500 wheels - I put a 1.5" spacer on the rear due to the difference in offset... easy to install in the 1.5" width

Spacers are on the ground... my 315 35 17s beside the 285 40 18s

Id run some 1 inch hubcentric spacer in the rear, the tires won't be flush with the fender but it will look better then how it looks now.

Do you have 1" spacers? Did you not have to cut the OEM studs to clear the wheels on the hubcentric face? I only ask as you're suggesting he not go with 1.5s...

I run 1" spacers on my fronts with my Prostar skinnies and I did have to cut the studs off.

My current wheels are kinda universal with the 10 holes for offset lugs and such. If the original lugs are a bit too long wont they just rest in the offset slots? As opposed to cuttimg them off?
