Hood latch issue

First time poster with V6 2002 mustang...
My problem seems to be pretty common, I've searched this forum and many others but none of the solutions seem to be working.

Basically, pulling the hood release handle inside the car pulls the cable at the latch but doesn't release anything. I've had someone else pull the lever while I pull up/down on the hood and that doesn't do anything. I've gotten under the car, stuck my arm up around the cable and tried pulling on it as hard as I could with my hand/tools and nothing.

I really am not sure what to do at this point...can I pry up the yellow release handle under the hood somehow??

Thanks in advance.

Well if you cant fix the problem, Do what I did..

use a Flathead screwdriver, But chances are you have a Grill so you wont be able to access the hook to pull it.. I would see if it's frozen shut or if the Pull handle inside the car is actually attached to anything, etc.

I was able to spray WD40 from under the car and threw the grille and after pressing down on the hood, while the lever was pulled it finally popped opened. I soaked it in WD40 now, it was pretty rusted and i did that washer mod I seen that props the latch up some so it doesn't jam.

Works so far

I'll post a new thread for my real issue now that I finally got the hood open
