V8 Swap or FI?
ok so i'm really not sure what i want to do with my car anymore. i was dead set on a v8 swap but now i'm having second thoughts. cobra motors are hard to find, or either expensive, around here and i don't think a 2v would be worth the time and money. plus finding all the parts would be a PITA and my car is my only daily driver. and the people in the local mustang club think it would be a better idea to have a v6 that beats the stock v8s. so would forced induction be the better option? my engine has 140,000 miles on it. so would it be safe for the engine? and what type of FI would you go with? turbo? supercharger? what types? price ranges? i really want some suggestions/opinions here because if i decide to do FI, then i can keep spending on the 6, but if i decide to swap i will stop spending on the 6 all together. sorry for the long read, but what would you do??

if you are going to go fi, go ahead and pull the motor and build it up.

1 stop sending on the 6 and save for a plan so you don't waste money
2 you've been here long enough to answer many of these questions 3 I run w/ stock V8s N/A, FI should beat them 4 Your engine could be a POS at 5k miles just as much as 140k ... |

V8 swap is useless comment.
Depends on the v8 you plan on using. If you gonna get a donor GT and swap it in. F it mod the 6. |

i've been looking for a 94/95 5.0 motor/donor car. if i were to go FI i would probably go turbo based on what i've heard... so it's between those two options to be more specific, sorry to be vague..

Turbo v8 lol..
Do what you want. Either will be a cool setup if done correct. If you want to keep the stock 3.8 rotating assembly then you wont be able to push high numbers with it.. (mid 300s) not sure. Stock 5.0 rotating assemblies are a little stronger and make good gains from simple bolt ons and a tune. Set a budget and go with that.. If I would have sat down and made a budget then I would have just finished the blown 4.3 stroker and be able to drive it June last year.. But no, had a big change of plans.

i was thinking of doing a V8 swap, then i came to my senses that it would be a waste of time unless the motor blew..

probably forged so the power wouldn't be so limited.. but how much more would that end up costing? plus labor costs

Your going to spend a good chunk of change doing a forged rotating assembly.. Go to supersixmotorsports.com. That is just about the obly place to get a kit.. Do the 4.3 setup at roughly 9.0:1 compression

![]() Yes, come to the dark side. Boosted V8's ftw! ...and boosted 6 or 8? Go big or go home, go 10. 6.8 Triton V10.

id say save and build an engine that way you can put around in your six keep up with basic shit....ie: oil change basic maintence ect and while you go about your life build an 8
weither it be a 302 351 406 427/429 that way you not tied up a car like i was and save ur 6 just incase ur engine blows if it hapenes 460

I just did "the swap". Wasn't too bad and I think ill make out with only doing it for 1 grand after I sell some stuff. But I got one hell of a deal on a donor =)

are you guys sure the swap would be more expensive? aren't most turbo kits for our cars around $3-4,000? +forging and labor costs
the cheapest complete donor car i've found is a 95 GT for $2900 but i'm going to keep looking |
